I find it ironic that some of the same people pissing on Morgan Lucas and Brandon Bernstein for seemingly having their rides handed to them by their parents, are such big fans of, and so concerned about this Sheik dude having his allowance potentially taken away.

I thought drag racing was a family business. Mike dunn and his dad,del and his dad, wilk and his son, not to mention john force and his daughters. Don and tony, connie and scott , warren and curt. Guess morgan and brandon dont fit into some peoples idea of this "family". :(

Mike Dunn's a stretch, On ESPN it's almost as if he has nothing ever good to say about his dad, also someone correct me if I am wrong, he has NEVER driven for his dad. ESPN and Dunn make it seem like they have a horrible relationship, I wonder how Jim is on his side of the coin? Do they get along?

Wrong! the Snickers car.

Hmmm? This is strange, there are no more pictures of the teams at the Al-Anabi racing home page >

Alan Johnson Racing - Al Anabi Racing - Top Fuel Drag Racing - Funny Car
From their site........

"Congratulations to Del Worsham and the Al-Anabi Gold Crew for winning the 2011 NHRA Full Throttle Top Fuel Championship. We are still finalizing our plans for the 2012 season. Moving into next season with our two car team, we will continue to bring awareness of our great sport onto the international scene, continue to build championship teams, and give our fans an amazing show. Happy Holidays to you and yours, AJ"

I contend Mike Dunn doesn't gush over his dad (even given the past deal) cause we'd be saying "damn Mike shut up about your dad"

I have heard Mike a lot on occassion talk in terms of "Ol Jim" in good ways.

Also his dad is not a driver and his FC doesnt exactly set the world on fire to give Mike the chance.

Mike does a great job in the booth.

On the silver spoon deal: Many of us (and myself) have been given plenty of advantages or breaks in life, we just don't have a family in Top Fuel.

What do you want Brandon or Morgan to do?
Should they each say, "Hey my father is in this Top Fuel racing deal and I could enjoy it and go for something fun, big, and exciting. Nah, I'll go run a junkyard or mechanics shop."

Personally I would like to see Copart on the side of an Al Anabi car with Brandon.

Wrong! the Snickers car.

I'm still very sketchy on stuff before 1995, trying to get better with all of it, it's hard to learn backwards as in 1997 I was 13 and only just learned of the sport. (hence why, my book is 1997-2011, I am damn good on any info there)

Big Jim was the crew chief - he wasn't the car owner...

Still counts, I am surprised to learn that A. They worked together for a year. B. Snickers/M&M Mars got on a drag racing team. They sponsor everyones favorite man to hate, Kyle Busch, they should come back to drag racing. I could picture an amazing Peanut M&M paint job, and "peanut" dale creasy jr. could drive it. Now can I submit this to DRO that I supposedly heard it from "sources very involved" and get it posted? Just like how I see Jerry Newman on all the state farm commericals lol.

The only thing I have found out for sure is Al-Anabi still plans on fielding two top fuel teams next season.

I have not been able to get in touch with Larry, but a trusted source tells me they would be very surprised if Larry wasn't one of the drivers.

I expect the team will announce its plans soon, maybe before the end of the week.

So, stand by! LOL.

John as always, thanks for the up-date! Have a super great week and stay healthy!

Got to love "the source" Reporters used to write it as if they broke the story. Now, it's the source. And ppl want to give them credit for have the Source. Joke compared to how things used to be done.

I've gone on record here as not being a big fan of this foreign oil money funded team but at least they were putting guys in the driver seats that really deserved it so I was at least begrudging them that.

I know its just a rumor at this point but if they are truly taking Larry Dixon out of one of the seats after the strong effort and committment he's given to them and drag racing as a whole over the years this really sucks, I'll being cheering against this team extra hard now.

I'd say this (almost) confirms it. Damn, I wonder where Larry is going?

Well, he could tune Courtney, then hold some best 2 out of 3's with DeJoria...:p

Who knows. As good as he is, he's subject to the same limitations McClenathan faced. Dixon ain't a kid any more.

a first lately that espn breaks an nhra story before other usual suspects.

whatever becomes of this team is anybody's best guess, but one thing
is for sure; this was a driving duo of two of nhra's best 2nd generation
drivers and it sure seems evident that they must have had a 3yr. deal in
place that just ended because they've both decided to move on.

I believe team al-anabi has changed it's focus - they came into nhra buying
and hiring the best to be the best and they more than proved that.
my .02 guess is this team will next try to produce an nhra champion
who is not from the USA..... wait to see what they announce.

Even without knowing all the facts, I'm still terribly disappointed to hear this.

i don't think so Bob - did any of us think that team al-anabi from Qatar would
forever be larry, alan & del?..... i didn't.
yes, it's a bit of a shock when something you're used to ends (like larry
leaving snake), but it's all inevitable (snake/bernstein quiting)....

on a personal note: i will not dislike team al-anabi for today's driver changes
or tomorrow's results, regardless of the driver.
the nhra has long had int'l. owners/drivers, but team al-anabi has pushed
the envelope of how professional a team can be..... is it sustainable for
them and more importantly for other teams and the series?... i hope so.

Maybe the Sheik is ready to rumble........:D

I hate to see Larry go if this is so,but he bailed on the snake and maybe a little Karma is passing on to him???????
