The small piece that hit his car first, looks like maybe the reflector piece that is on the timing cones.
I was joking to my wife last night that JF will show up at the next race with some high tech carbon fiber/kevlar casts and devices that will allow him to drive the car at the next race and end up in the countdown. I also said that JF is such a competitor he'll be mad at Ashley and the team for pulling her out of the semi finals (that was a very good decision in my opinion and kudo's to the team for doing it).
I'm sure that Roger Stull and John Medlen led the team in a prayer afterward thanking God that John was not (more) seriously injured.

I am confused on why people think it is a tire failure, all the pictures and video that I saw looks like there are two intact tires when they are getting the car back upright. Am I not seeing something that others are seeing? I saw the body and the wing get distroyed but I don't think it was caused by a tire exploding, I think it might be something else.
Take a look at this video at 4:37 and 4:38. Right at the start of the 4:38 frames it appear that the right rear of John's car drops abruptly as if the tire just went flat.

Even though I am not superstitious I hope they never run that paint scheme again after what happened to Eric and now John. Had nothing to do with either accident but brings back too many bad memories.
Eric was running the AAA scheme when he had his accident.
I still find it hard picturing Force in a black Castrol car.

From my understanding it was Roberts car that actually crashed either that or Robert was supposed to be driving it and changed his mind at the last minute.
I'd have to say no, and no.
Paul, Eric had contact with the wall on Sunday and banged up the AAA body. He was running his back up body (Syntec) for testing on Monday,

I can shed some light on this since I was there. Eric was in the AAA body during raceday but they used the Syntec car on Monday for testing. I was talking to a crew guy on Eric's team on Sunday night asking him if they were testing Monday and he said yes but they were using the black body because they didn't have many of the AAA bodies and they were saving those for raceday. All four cars were testing that day with each driver in their own cars. From what I can remember that was Eric's 1st pass of the day. I don't remember any of the other Force cars running that day. Everybody was pretty much done after that.
Thanks for the info, I was just going off what I had been told and it was a good source. It doesn't really matter at this point.
