is it me or does it seem drivers are going soft. every now and then i read some of the drivers blogs on nhra and all they talk about is going out for sushi and drinking espreso , cappichino and wine. what happened to good old pizza and beer, ribs or a steak. no cookouts with hamburgers and hot dogs. i am sorry but NITRO and SUSHI does not seem to go together. :D

Yeah not like that so called over rated jim farce guy in the caster oil car, who was on the TV eating peanut butter out of the jar......

"Corporate Sponsorship" in the 60's, 70's and even early 80's was a lot different then, than it is now. Nowadays your big sponsors don't like to see their drivers eating at the highway Choke-N-Puke. I would have to agree with you Bruce, that many have gone soft.

its espresso and cappuccino.. and if chicks like Hillary and Melanie and Angelle dig it , im good with raw fish, strong coffee and wine:D

Here, here. I f you can eat good chow and not at a greasy spoon why not? Especially if there are good looking intelligent women around:D

It dosen't mean they are going soft....it's just trendy :D Another trend will come along soon enough.

Reason #2341 as to why we need an In-n-Out sponsored car again!

To each his own....next time I go race at Famoso, I'll still stop at Zingo's or Milts, and I'll still eat at the Pines Cafe when I'm out at LACR (Palmdale)!
Cheers!

No kidding.... Every time we go to Vegas or Pomona, 1st stop on the way to the hotel is in-n-out.

I like sushi, but I am strictly a corndog and porkbutt-on-a-stick:) girl at the track. I think the scent of nitro would not go well with tuna tataki, too many strong essences clashing.

Porkbutt-on-a-stick:) ...I smile everytime I say or type it.

I told my friend I'd pick her up from the airport this weekend. She said, "You're not busy?" And I said, "Nah, no drag racing this weekend."
She said, "I'll take you to Blue C for some sushi for your trouble."

Well, I'd do it anyway, but I love sushi. My sister has worked in Japanese restaurants since I was 11 and at a sushi restaurant in my hometown since I was 13. I try to eat me some sushi at least once a month.

One has to appreciate the culturally open-mindedness of the drivers.

And you won't see me go anywhere near an In n Out burger. I have no clue where I'll eat while I'm in Vegas in October, but it won't be there. I will go to Batista's Hole in the Wall, though, behind the Flamingo. MmmMm. That is some good Italian. Maybe Lawry's Steak House. And I know a few good sushi places, too, in Vegas. Wonder if I'll run into any of the drivers. ;)

I haven't been able to eat sushi since 1988(?). Bad memories of sushi and Sapporo in San Juan Capistrano......followed by a long cab ride the next morning from Orange County to LAX (due to a pilot strike). Oh, those poor people sharing the cab. Yikes!

i'm sorry but my mouth waters at the smell and thoughts of sirloin tips smothered with onions and green peppers covered in gravy w/ a side order of fries. . (bring on the hardened arteries)..... not RAW fish. :D

I am guessing that if we really knew what was in Hot Dogs, we would all opt for the raw fish!! :D

California Rolls do the trick for me too... don't forget the wassabe either!

As for In-N-Out.. I will have a 4x4 animal style, well done.

My friends daughter took a whole scoop of wasabe thinking that it was avacado creme. :D  Shoved it all the way in her mouth before we could take it from her.

I thought we were going to have to go to the ER after that one.

Place where I get mine has what I think is Pickled horseradish, it's pretty good.
