Nitro tuner shake ups coming

You have to be careful because you own what you post. Posting stuff like "JFR is not paying his employees" can and will end up getting you sued by the man himself. He would have no problem claiming your comments have damaged his reputation and has had a direct negative effect on his ability to get sponsors causing him financial loss, besides the fact that he could prove people would be reluctant to come to work for him thinking they would not get paid..

Smartest thing you've ever said!

If there was any question about job security, I would think ANY employee would've trusted John enough to speak to him first. There should've been no need for Don to call.

Thanks for the laugh this morning! You will see I carefully worded my statements to clearly say someone else on this thread posted that, so I am not at all concerned about a potential lawsuit. If John is worried about what's posted on this website or social media he has bigger problems than Prock leaving or not being fully funded next year. By the way, what's posted here is tame to what's out there on social media and other forums.

Glad you think I'm a comedian. I never said you posted it. I am merely pointing out that whatever is posted on message boards can have legal consequences.

The problem is the good ol' Google search. Force seeks sponsors. Potential sponsors wanting to know more about JFR do an internet search. The search reveals posts on Nitromater where people falsely say (because they are good at spreading FUD) "JFR hasn't had a bath in weeks." Sponsors tell JFR "no thanks." JFR sues internet message board posters spreading FUD. Court agrees. Force races in 2015 with your money.

Carry on.

I hear there is more to Prock leaving. Something to do with cash flow and pay checks at JFR that started the whole chain of events. If that's true then JFR has really big problems and the future is not to bright. Of course that could be a very temporary thing but if there is that type of problem and they are operating that close to the red line it doesn't bode well.

Not that I agree with anything Paul has said, but it would appear the reckless financial posts started here.

Regardless, unless you know for fact, I think people need to keep their mouths shut about another man's finances unless he owes you the money you're posting about. Even then, you shouldn't discuss it publicly - especially when it comes to company cash flow and employee pay.

This case, like we often see on the Mater, is probably of somebody trying to create the illusion they have insight into the daily dealings at JFR when they really have no clue.

Let's allow this to play out and come back for a thread reunion during silly season when NHRA and football is over!

I think I laughed harder than Paul.

:D
I needed a laugh today.
And, I think I laughed harder than Paul did.
Obviously, you have no idea what the legal process entails, and what a joke that post was..
But, thanks anyway.
This board has more drama than Maury...

Since you are in a funny mood and are looking for a good laugh, Mr. Legal Expert , why don't you go ahead and explain this:

Jury awards $11.3M over defamatory Internet posts.

By Laura Parker, USA TODAY

A Florida woman has been awarded $11.3 million in a defamation lawsuit against a Louisiana woman who posted messages on the Internet accusing her of being a "crook," a "con artist" and a "fraud."

Legal analysts say the Sept. 19 award by a jury in Broward County, Fla. — first reported Friday by the Daily Business Review — represents the largest such judgment over postings on an Internet blog or message board. Lyrissa Lidsky, a University of Florida law professor who specializes in free-speech issues, calls the award "astonishing."

Lidsky says the case could represent a coming trend in court fights over online messages because the woman who won the damage award, Sue Scheff of Weston, Fla., pursued the case even though she knew the defendant, Carey Bock of Mandeville, La., has no hope of paying such an award. Bock, who had to leave her home for several months because of Hurricane Katrina, couldn't afford an attorney and didn't show up for the trial.

"What's interesting about this case is that (Scheff) was so vested in being vindicated, she was willing to pay court costs," Lidsky says. "They knew before trial that the defendant couldn't pay, so what's the point in going to the jury?"

Scheff says she wanted to make a point to those who unfairly criticize others on the Internet. "I'm sure (Bock) doesn't have $1 million, let alone $11 million, but the message is strong and clear," Scheff says. "People are using the Internet to destroy people they don't like, and you can't do that."

Or this from ABC News:

'Anonymous' Posters to Pay $13 Million for Defamatory Comments

April 24, 2012

By KI MAE HEUSSNER and SUSANNA KIM

A Texas couple who filed a defamation lawsuit over three years ago against anonymous posters on the Internet forum Topix.com won a $13.8 million judgment from a jury.

Mark and Rhonda Lesher of Clarksville, Texas, filed a suit against anonymous commenters who accused them of being sexual deviants, molesters, and drug dealers on Topix, once self-described as "the country's largest local forum site."

"This vindicates us. This is vindication for all the scurrilous, vile, defamatory statements that caused us to be indicted, to be tried, that caused us to move out of town and my wife to lose her business," Mark Lesher said, the Texarkana Gazette reported. "You can't post anonymous lies on the Internet without suffering the consequences."

Now go ahead and post away, law degree or not.

Apology accepted....

And, every single bit of it will be tossed out in Appellate court..

According to you, for all of the crap Shirley has taken over the years, she should be as wealthy as Paul Allen.
I'm no legal expert, but the thinking isn't that deep, even for a below average intellect to immediately grasp.

So just for Haha's, if for some weird reason a race team wants to bring a suit vs. a "fan" who might not have enough recoverable net worth to buy a drum of nitro, there is a little thing called disclosure.
For now, let's forget about the tons of catastrophic negative press.
Said race team will have to produce all financial and employment record history leading up in order to first prove the statement was false, and second, to prove actual damages were caused by said perpetrator.. All, and I mean ALL financial records become open and fair game in order to prove race teams case to the court. Potentially damaging figures from sponsors, employee payments etc. may now be made public for all to examine, and to be printed. And since the suit was brought on by said race team, full weight of proving damages were tied to said perpetrator are on the said race team. It will never happen in a million years. In this case, one that is readily discussed on various forums, the odds of any court singling out a single perp for any damage is beyond astromonical.
Again, let that one go because it's downright hysterical and if I may say so, embarrassing.

Force, or any other racer on his level doesn't even read this crap, and as Paul said, if he has to worry about negative Internet chatter affecting his hiring process, his problems run deeper.
Force will most likely ink a nice sponsor package, or not, hire a new CC or not, and the world will keep on spinning.

This entire thread is a comical read.....

We all love drag racing, that why we are on the 'Mater. Too many people take ANYTHING posted by others much too seriously. It's a sport, it's supposed to be fun. Guess what, tuners come and tuners go just like anything else in life. No big deal. Never forget: The most visible, most enduring, and most important safety item in drag racing was designed by a cartoon character. Let's have FUN !!! :D

"Force, or any other racer on his level doesn't even read this crap"

there are several esteemed members of the Mater in that club....people I admire with names like Schumacher and Coil, and others who I don't know (but learning!) who raced or crewed for famous rides....I thought this site with our names visible to all members would be different than those which allow posters to hide behind alias' and shout at each other through their keyboards......

I'm no legal expert...

And there you have it.

If you want to discuss this any further start a new thread in off topic forum. I'll gladly debate you on this. Unfortunately, I am guilty of derailing the OP's thread and you bit into it.

To the OP...Sorry about that.

Oh geez. This is a social chat board. If everything everyone said at every social networking site was up for slander, most of the country would be in jail.
