Back in the DAY - When they had the "Tricky Tipster" (Division 7 Director Bernie Partridge) in National Dragster there was always Odds for a guy named Harvey Tubesteak. I never saw where he made a Pass but always liked him because he was an Underdog so my vote is for Harvey .

One year we were @ Memphis and me,my wife,Arlene and WJ were eating @ Corky's BBQ. Our waitress brought a WJ hat over to our table and pointed to a guy @ another table and said it was his hat and wanted WJ to autograph it. WJ told her he wouldn't sign it till the guy came over. She went back and told the guy WJ said to come over which he did. WJ shook his hand and thanked him for being a fan and autographed the hat. Yes I paid the check.

Thanks, I couldn't remember if it was an Aspen or a Volare. I just remember him joking about it over the years.

That was the year that the heat was absolutely unbearable. NHRA even put up mist stations for the fans to cool off. Arlene let us stay in the motorhome between rounds to keep from dying. So the least I could do is buy dinner.
