Lets not forget the most disturbing part of that chain of events.......GA getting the easy win  (Its a joke Jeff...kinda)

I can see it coming now

"Crew member Allan Lindsey has been fined $10,000 by NHRA for an incident involving physical contact with an NHRA official"

Boy have things got'n out of control. Just a touch and people are freakin out. What the heck happened to this sport. Bunch of babies.... I miss the good old days... All you needed was the right car, right fire jacket and a good right hand and you were ready for a day at the races.

This goes bad to school days.. O'h someone hold me back or I am gun'a kick your butt. Now, someone stop me.... Hold me back.. NHRA/ESPN has the balls to show the "almost fight" four hundred times but will not tolerate this type of action. Get your story straight. Fight or no fight. IF no fight then drop the replays.

My 2 cents .. Flame away..

It was ridiculous. They guy had a valid point - the bulbs were infact blinking... but the way the old man in the straw hat played it was totally for the camera. Good job by ESPN of finding alternate stories other than the scooter, the pet cat, diving acquisitions helicopter med lifts and sponsor rants

Does anyone know why the light flickered? Was he shallow staged, deep staged, or was there a tree malfunction?

I can just picture in my mind how Buster would have handled the situation, I believe he would have calmly walked him off to the side, explained it to him, and probably would barely notice any hand contact that might have accidentally occurred. That was one thing about Buster, he always seemed to keep his cool and people had a megaton of respect for him. Buster was a real man, and Rick Stewart isn't worthy to clean the gum off his boots, much less try to fill them.

No, he really didn't. It's the driver's job to get fully staged, and he eventually did if you watch the replay. But remember that the starter has nothing to do with the equation anymore. Once all four stage beams are lit, the computer takes over, and actually, it takes over earlier than that.

I'll bet ya Mike had no problem with anyone on that other than himself.

Once both cars satisfy the staged to start delay, (the car has the stage beam blocked), programmed into auto start the tree timing starts. I don't know for sure now but the number was 0.5 seconds. When you flicker the bulb you take the chance you will satisfy the time requirement. As I viewed it Edwards was easily staged for the min time and his crew guy had no legitimate complaint. Edwards screwed up pure and simple. It happens.

Usually the starter gives control to the computer after both cars are pre-staged to keep crew members from tripping the beams although he can relinquish control at any time.

Did Mike ever comment on what happened?

it didnt involve the Forces, so no tv interview was necessary !!::

You're right my bad!
