Does NHRA know that controversy draws attention and they are trying to play it to the hilt or are they really just that stupid? Sorry to say it but a story line on ESPN stating "John Force docked points" will get more viewers than "John Force wins race".

As far as I am concerned this years champions should have an * by there names in the history books. Champions yes they are but they did not EARN them in the same way that all the past champions have.

NHRA rules committee---->:confused:

PJ, we've had our disagreements over this but in this case I agree with you 100% if this NHRA memo turns out to be accurate. It's the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen.

are you finally coming towards the light side?? May we soon add your name to the petition.:D

It's accurate,I've seen a copy of it. I see it more of a CYA,they can say that we told them no team orders.:rolleyes:

Which brings up what I've said before, The *8* run separate from the rest... When it gets to *4*, they run by themselves.... and for the next 4 races, have a second 8 car show for 9th up.... Vegas and Pomona 2, back to 16 car fields with the final four by themselves....

that's the no brainer

Karl, I think you are on to something. Only, bracket them together, while still a part of the regular race bracket. That way, they run each other, then run the other side of the bracket for the race Wally. Same with 4, run each other then the winner blends in at the semi's................
Hey......it's a thought :mad:

I agree that the NHRA has an impossible task on its' hands trying to enforce a rule against team orders. In fact about the only way to insure against team orders would be to have those teams in the Countdown only race against each other during the final six races of the season. But to do that would create a whole new set of problems, not the least of which would be the teams not in the Countdown would be irrelevant.

I think that there is something that alot of you guys are missing here. The spirit in which the letter was written is such:

Please, please guys, if you are going to take a dive, and we know you are, don't be so damn blatant about it. We have Fans and Sponsors that we need to keep happy. At least make it look like it's a race, drive it out of the groove and lift, lift at the finish line, whatever, just make it look like a race..............

I have remained quiet on this countdown issue trying to wait and see what transpires. While at first I didn't like it at all, I thought it best to see what was actually happening before saying anything. Now, that the "Silly" rules for this has made the "Silly" season look tame I just can't hold it back now. First, I wondered to myself how they would make sure that none of the ones who weren't in the top eight could not win. After looking at the point structures, and looking at past years winners in each catagory, I see that the points leaders now have more points than has ever been earned in the past several years by the winner in any of the pro catagories.

Then we have the countdown polices in effect. So if one of the top 4 doesn't get in their 4 qualifying runs, they get in anyway.

Now we have "team orders". While it may give the appearance of "Just don't make it look so blatent", it also gives the appearance that, "We didn't plan this very well, so the silly rules are put into effect, and we'll make them up as we go along."

I've been around Drag Racing and been an NHRA member since the 60's, so I've seen a lot go on, but this just takes the cake. So now, I'm joining PJ's bandwagon in the "FAKE" countdown to the championship.

Is it finally time to add that second seat you "all" have been asking for?

If I were an owner and my 2 cars met and one was in the championship hunt and the other wasnt, I'd let'em race. Just whoever wasnt in the hunt would be found with 95% nitro in the tank after the round.
