It seems one of the most interesting questions heading into the 4-Wide Nationals which has gone.... COMPLETELY un noticed and not brought up, is HOW ARE THE PRO STOCK CARS AND MOTORCYCLES GOING TO CHANGE THEIR STAGING PROCESS DUE TO 4-WIDE?

When the cars stage, they are coming up on the R's a bit. When both cars are staged both drivers go "FULL THROTTLE" and wait for the flash of the yellow to dump the clutch. Well, how are they going to know a car in the other set of lanes is not... "WAITING" to stage.

Sure they have 7 seconds once their opponent stages to bumps in, but will this be FOR ALL 4 cars? If so, are the drivers supposed to focus on the tree in their lane and the other tree?

Pro Stock drivers have a hard enough time seeing the tree behind the scoop.

Just wondering how REACTION TIME will play in this weekends racing.

Each tree has Pre-Stage and Stage lights for all four lanes, you can see it all on the top of your own tree,

No problem,

Alan

Looks like it bit KJ and Vinnie Deceglie though. Lane 3 and 4 are one tree aren't they?

Lane 1: Rickie Jones Runs 6.623/208.55, Now #1
Lane 2: Johnny Gray Runs 6.688/208.26, Now #4
Lane 3: Kurt Johnson No Time, Now #14
Lane 4: Vinnie Deceglie No Time, Now #13

Johnson and Deceglie left before the tree was activated...

this exact situation is why it is so important that qualifying (where R/Ts dont matter) be conducted in the 4-wide fashion....so that drivers could get used to the procedures.....there was definately some confusion in the 1st session, but the 2nd session was better and the 3rd and 4th will get better too

Qualifying was very ugly, and today will even be worse...more pressure on those drivers than ever! Going to be extremely interesting to see who capitalizes on the situation, and who cracks!!

Check out round 2 of Top Fuel (1st Quad)

CHARLOTTE 1 - Top Fuel Round 2 Eliminations

How bout' Pro Stock Motorcycle (3rd Quad Round 1)

LODRS 2-6 - Super Stock Qualifying, Session #2 Order 81#indextop

Just examples of the learning curve with 4-wide racing. We knew there was going to be a curve, but should it have been a specialty race instead of a national event? Kind of like the Winston Showdown?

I think this is what I would have liked to see.
