Drunks In The Stands (1 Viewer)

Am I the only one who noticed the exteme amount of annoying drunk people in Houston on Sunday?? It finally got to the point where I was disgusted with it and got up and left after the semi's. By far the worst I have ever seen it. I think I may be done with taking that trip down one weekend a year. Sorry for the gripe just wondering if anyone else noticed?
 
Mike, I noticed this year there were far more intoxicated fans but I think the reason was b/c of the rain and people had nothing better to do than drink. Especially Saturday since there was no racing at all. Matter of fact, my wife and I overheard a guy yesterday as we walked by say that on Saturday he spent $100 on beer alone. I dont drink and I never saw what they were charging for beer this weekend but I bet it was atleast $5. So at the most thats 20 beers and if its $6 it would be 16 or at $7 it would be 14 beers. So either way, you could bet he was one of the intoxicated ones. In the years past I havent noticed but maybe one or two so I think it was just b/c of the weather.
 
I agree....I think it was because of the rain delay. BTW....both Friday and Sunday I sat in both Gen Admission and Reserved. The drunks were waaaaaaayyyyyyy worse in General Admission. I mean LIGHT YEARS worse!

Oh, beers were $6 each.

My boss's family left, so he gave us their stubs. We watched rnd 2 thru finals in GG. Awesome section! I WILL sit there next year! Screw Gen Admission....I still can't get the mud out from around my toenails! (you will understand when Joe posts his pics ;) )

Hey Kelly, my son and I saw you over at Ron's pit, but I couldnt get your attention from "the other side of the fence":D . I missed the mater meeting Sunday morning due to traffic...even from the "secret back entrance" to the track. We got to the pits just before the "heavy rain" came down and we took cover in JR Todd's pit area.
 
No, no Joe.....his wife and 2 young kids, along with his sister-in-law left. My boss and his BIL stayed behind. And then, my friend and his buddy finally showed up just before rnd 2.

Aw, crap! You should have hollered! Yeah, when they were going to start pro mods at 10, we had kinda 'set up' to watch that......and THEN the downpour! I had just left the Brut pit not 10 minutes before that. What timing! Story of my life! ;)

Sorry to miss you! :(

I'll make sure to make it on time to Dallas so I can meet everyone! Hopefully there will be no rain like at Houston:mad:
 
We had two of "those moments" this weekend, Saturday when the bikes were ready to pull out from under the tower and again Sunday when Pro Mod was about to fire the first pair. Both times, the track was ready and then the skies opened up before the first pair fired. That sucketh!!!
 
I enjoyed the drunk guy that proclaimed a certain FC driver was an A-hole and heckled the team van as it drove up the return road at Pomona in front of the loosers lounge. Sad truth is he was yelling out Scelzi's name as Gilbertson and crew rolled by. No more than 2 minutes later he was hi-fived by 3 other drunken assumed NASCAR fans that found the wrong turn off on the 10 freeway. They were congratulating this guy on his first drag racing experience. Has anybody seen that Viagra car go by yet? :D
 
i think joe sherwood was trying to photograph these illusive
'drunks in stands' - he was very close with picture #60 from houston;
unfortunately these two alcohol toting fans were just steps away
from actually being 'in the stands'.
nice try though joe - keep em' coming!;)
