WOW.....It's a miracle they both didn't end up in worse shape. My prayers and thoughts go to the whole John Force family. A collision like that at 300+MPH....WOW. I hope it wasn't debris that got the tire.

dont jump on him for that.....thats what was being reported

Exactly. By listening to the webcast, I was led to believe that KB crossed the centerline and got into John.

If you watch the video, it would appear that when KB hit the timing blocks, one of them got into John's car. Could that have caused the tire to blow? Not assuming anything or jumping to any more conclusions, just wondering if that is what I am seeing.

It looks like the cone hit either the tire or back end of the body and it just exploded.

That's a very bad crash, best wishes to the team. Notable is the "clean" split when Forces car goes to pieces, the cockpit of Forces car never crosses the centerline.

That was my immediate impression also.

In order.
Look at the 3rd and 4th pics.
It looks like the first cone got past him

I played the video back again and again it look as if, with out making too much speculation it does appear that both tires are in tact and maybe there may have been a Cory Mac type chassis failure

i've watched the video about 100 times now and the more i watch it the more i tend to think that the clutch came out of John's car.....the blocks/Kenny had nothing to do with this at all other then they were simply there

Not exactly a fan of Force but this is sickening. Thoughts and prayers to John and his family. I was hoping, at first, that it wasn't that bad and Ashley would win her first race to salvage the weekend. They have had the tougest of years.

Which would explain how he broke both his legs. I have always thought if there were a clutch failure that resulted in parts coming out of the bell housing would lead to broken legs. But that is peer speculation on my part.

Barry, I was thinking the same thing at first. I was hoping Ashley could get that first win, and John would be all better. Then, I kept reading. The more I read and watch the video the more I just can't believe what this whole team has been through this year.
I am just praying for a full, quick recovery for John.

That was what dawned on me just now looking at the stills just before your post. In the old days (yea, in the 60's and 70's) there used to be a lot of catastrophic clutch failures, I cannot remember the last one I have seen in the modern era...and the Jim Nicoll - Don Prudhomme indy incident did come to mind watching the video, only the cars didn't get together and Jim walked away in that incident...

that added to the fact that with the chassis breaking where it did....his legs are just kinda there dangling...which explains the nasty breaks

Or just the fact that once the chassis split and rolled, his leg protection was gone, hopefully his injuries are not as severe as like what Shirley went through in her crash in the '80's.

After many view of the video I concur. I think the timing of the blocks going across the lane is just coincidental. The pictures posted above seem to show the the first block passing behind the car. Then it seems that debris is flying off of Johns car before the second block even nears the car.

He is lucky he didn't get them cutoff if that was the case!
That looked really bad! I hope he gets a full recovery and has full function of those limps. :(

Kenny is a damn good driver as is John this was a serious accident!

As Shannon said, everything we can think of is just pure speculation. The important thing is John will be okay. We all need to try to wait for JFR to say what happened and updates on John. In the meantime, just keep John and family in our thoughts and prayers.
