I read, "...in two years we'll have zero debt." To me that means they're still in the red, but I'm just an engineer, not a beancounter.

I read it as propaganda. Anytime someone is asked a specific question, and the bulk of their answer is "it's complicated, too complicated to explain" every red flag in my brain gets a flag-on. It happened at least twice in that interview.
I'll confess, when you tell me your history of schooling which aligns you with every other corporate officer out there that gets "theirs" at the risk of the longevity and quality of the company and it's product, I immediately shelve the idea that it has a future. Only thing that has a future with Ivy League business types is their personal fortune, and almost never the company they head.
Guess we're lucky they can't outsource NHRA to another country, or they would have already.

Tom Compton could come up with the best idea in the world and in some peoples eyes he would still be wrong purely because he is Tom Compton and a business man.

I'm not against the best idea in the world. I just have a healthy pragmatic view of all things. I welcome great ideas. The fact that he scoffed at the suggestion of shrinking the schedule, rather than power ahead, makes me wonder in what business acumen that growth in distribution sites is even on the table when the issue is less product to offer to less consumers? More cars, more show, more demand, sure...expand. Less cars, less demand, more races? It makes sense only if there's a contract sitting somewhere with a clause that makes it a good idea, if not for the sport, for someone(s).

It is damn easy to see where the TV Ratings and attendance is over any period... show us the actual numbers, not a corporate-speak view from the ivory tower.
I remember Gary Darcy's glowing vision of the now dead NHRA Sport Compact Series, "We are seeing growth across the board in all classes!" Then, in next year, they pulled the plug giving the Series to NOPI.

I agree with letting kids 12 and under in free at all but Nationals and they should be half priced there unless the venue is normally a sellout .
The kids are the future of the sport and they have to have those memories on file to want to participate or take their kids later in life .
I drag a crew of rug rats often and if racing usually make a family day and take a couple cars to play with . My son kicks my butt but he has to work at it .
Drag Racing is still the largest Grassroots Motorsports venue and that's a good thing.

How long will it be before Forrest Lucas just buys the NHRA and rights the ship? He already has a better TV package then ESPN has to offer in MAV TV.

The ratings are already not very impressive on ESPN2 with millions more potential viewers, if you really want nobody to see NHRA, put it on MavTV.
In Las Vegas with Cox Communications (3rd largest cable operator in the USA), MavTV is not even offered.
I love the Lucas family too, but NHRA is right to stick with ESPN.
Looks like Cox is the problem not Mav TV.

I get MAV TV and often find some great motorsports to enjoy, last night was the Knoxville Nationals!
