I'm a little confused why everyone is concerned about prepping the track. I thought they just did it at start of the day and oil downs only. I know they sweep between rounds.
What makes everyone think it would be a smoke fest if they went back mid-80's to mid-90's track prep?
These folks are smart. They would know the traction wouldn't be there, so they would do what they always do. Take it right up to the point of spinning the tires just enough, but not too much to go up in smoke. They wouldn't let someone walk in, set low et qual, and go all four rounds with a car set on soft while they all boil the balonies....they might smile as the Greek trailered them one after the other, but honest, they wouldn't do anything they aren't doing now. Putting these things on the edge, you're bound to see some smoke and fire, but the idea is to accelerate as quickly as possible, right?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure they spray vht the whole length of the track to begin with, and during quals and elims the standard track prep for every round of nitro is they spray to keep it "topped" off. (prostockers have been on tv saying they deserve the same track prep as the nitro cars for a couple of years now....they don't spray pre-prostock rounds apparently, or at least they didn't....I don't follow so closely).
