Seems like it would only take a few stationary cameras to help keep an eye on things. It almost seems, in this litigious world, that the NHRA would have started that long ago to assist in situations like this or maybe capture an accident in the pits.

I was thinking the same thing. Wouldn't it be easy to have someone wire up security cameras to the trailer? Then again, it's sad when it gets to the point where it becomes a needed thing.

Been that way for years. Depends on the event. Local event with just racers around you can leave things around unlocked. Divisional, you close things up, but maybe not lock up. National, never leave for any reason without locking up like a safe. Chain things down...

Pomona is especially bad. Seems like some clowns just consider the ticket to be a license to a free swap meet. Golf carts even. Amazing.

Yeah, I know what you mean. As a victim of one too many thefts I had to vent.

In my opinion security was very lax at the Winternationals. I know of several vehicles that were parked in the pits that came in without access stickers through the back gate by the Hoosier trailer. All they did was act like they belonged in the pits and the guys waved them in. At night it's the same story.

Anyone who leaves anything of value outside deserves to lose it in my opinion. We chain our golf carts and scooters to the center axle of the trailer and anything of value is locked up inside our rig. I also lock my pit up like we are leaving for the day whenever we are called to the lanes.

In 2000 at Las Vegas someone got into our motorhome and stole wallets and phones during one of our sessions when Pete Swayne was driving for me. They also got Amato's, the Dream Weaver team and several others that same day.

I fear for the life of anyone caught getting into rigs in the pits. Torque wrenches will be flying.
