I think I asked this once before; but does anyone else hear follow college hockey besides me?

Let's see.... "hockey...." Never heard of it.

Just kidding Chris I follow the Sharks a little bit up here. However, I just never really hear much about college hockey. Do you follow a particular school?

Ahhh, the Sharks.... ever heard of a Kid named Matt Carle??? I watched him here for 3 years!!! I'll give you a hint... geographically it's the closest Division 1 hockey school to Bandimere Speedway !

Actually, I am an NCAA Off-Ice Official assigned to the University Of Denver. No, I do not "follow them", but I work all thier games as strictly an unbiased and un-opinionated third party. Geeze, I never thought about it before - but if any of you 'Maters ever get up here to a D.U. game, certainly let me know. And if you're in a town that has an NCAA hockey school nearby and you've never been - I highly recommend you check it out.

Being from Minnesota, I catch all the Gopher games I can. Other then Football(Vikings) and NHRA, Hockey is the only other sport i watch.

I don't follow NCAA much, other than to see how any Edmonton Oiler prospects are making out. I see Andrew Cogliano has opted to turn pro from Michigan but Jeff Petry is still there. Matt Greene is doing well here, he was from North Dakota, I think Taylor Chorney is still there?

Huge hockey fans in this house. We all cheer the Oilers, my kids all play throughout B.C & Alberta. Its pretty much all we do from Sept through to June.

Hockey & Drag Racing. The little sisters in their respective catagories. The NHL is trying to grow against the NFL, MLB ect and NHRA aginst Nascar, F1 ect. They're both similiar that way and I'm a huge fan of both.

I'm like you Dave. I keep a pretty close eye on the Oilers' college prospects. I think that it's a good idea for most college guys to get at least a year under their belts in the AHL in order to prepare themselves for the travel and rigor of an NHL season. Especially if he's gonna be an Oiler. Think Lowe can find us that forward we need? Any ideas?

Chris, have you been there for a long time? A kid from my hometown was a goalie there a few years ago. Stephen Wagner. I think his last year was 2000. I think he went 6th round to St. Louis in about '96.

Providence College Friars season ticket holder here.

I enjoy college hockey far more then the pros - it's great watching the freshmen mature and develop into their senior year.

the WCHA, and more specifically the UMD Bulldogs
(univ. of MN at Duluth) it's been a few years since they
made it to the frozen four.

I think Jagr would look just fine with Hemsky. As long as he keeps his hair short. Now that Smytty is gone, there should be a team rule - no more mullets!

Ahhhh, I knew there had to be a UMD fan here somewhere near Brainerd! I too enjoy college so much more than NHL. Over the years I've seen hockey played at virtually all levels. The east vs. west debate will go on forever; but I believe the WCHA is the toughest collegiate league and produces the most NHL-bound players. Denver's problem here is they have a huge recruiting program; they get the kids to come here who are already under NHL contract, they play up till thier junior year then leave school early to turn pro. I guess It's just a caveat to being a great hockey school.

I know for a fact there's 2 more guys right now on the Denver squad, scheduled to start class again in September who were asked by thier respective drafting clubs if they wanted to leave school and make the move to pro right now. I give alot of credit to the coaching staff at Denver - they always give input and guidance but ultimatley leave it to the player & his family to decide.
