google search 'don garlits' and 'don garlits vs. shirley muldowney'
neither search finds any of his last few real attempts in nhra back
in late 90's / early 2000's.
looking for anything with car he drove @ indy for vegas owner (can't remember),
the mono-wing car, or his final side by side qualifying pass @ night
with shirley in indy.

I've GOT to get down there and see that museum.

It's on my bucker list.....

thanks guys......anyone have any luck finding one of his late model swamp
rats in action on youtube?

cory, yes pretty sure b.l. did drive for don one year.

swamp rat 34 - unbelievably the most awesome looking TF'r to date.

cut the HP, runem' slower - then allow aero and ground effects development;
TF appearance, except for garlit's early 2000's swamp rats, is 30 years stale.

The cars were conventional and then Garlits comes out with the airplane wheels and canopy and everyone followed suite. Then before you know it everyone went back to the big front wheels and open cockpit again.

Actually, there were a couple cars on the west coast with enclosed cock pits including the "Foxy Lady" car out Oregon in about 1976. It wasn't a top fuel car but it was cool. Then of course Ormsby came out with a nice streamliner the same year as Garlits but didn't have a canopy. Also Kalitta had a canopy on his car.

Jack Beckman had a canopy on his Super Comp dragster. And if I'm not mistaken, Jack drove this car to a S/C world championship in 2003.

This is set to be tested and then submitted for approval

So I'll ask the obvious question... If NHRA approves it prior to the beginning of the upcoming season, will they retract their approval shortly after the second season begins?

Anyone who thinks that this new design is purely for safely and NOT a performance advantage is nuts. Just like the last year's design.

I agree Ma. I am an extremely amateur aerodynamicist, but the air would have to flow over the cockpit much better enclosed than open.

All I know is, that looks so badass. Can't wait to see it next week.
