You hit the nail on the head, these dads think they are a crew chief for these jr dragsters, stage it and run, most of them dont even need burnouts,i guess thats why some people like me get impatient, they take even longer and bracket races and the parents just invade the starting line like ants and wont move.
We didn't do burnouts with our Jr some do some don't. Our home track said the same thing about taking up to much time so they timed a big car class with the same number of cars, and they actually took longer. They timed them of different weekends because they couldn't believe the results.

Adjust the jrs idle or whatever it is u adjust right when the its started,no need to go up there adjusting whatever and nodding to each other like pro cc do,time wasting

It's not time wasted depending on the tune up you need your cylinder head temp in a certain range so that the engine will run clean during the run. I had one engine that like 100 degrees and one that needed to be at 190-200 to even leave the starting line without dropping the one cylinder they have. I wish it was so simple to just make a pass with a jr. The 8.90 and 7.90 cars become more sensitive. Sorry they are not like a fuel car and start them do a 5-minute burn out and forever to back up, set the idle, clean the tires, and turn the data logger on.

I dont mind the 3 or 4 min a fuel car is started up,its entertaining, unlike jr dragsters, very boring. Its like super gas, nobody wants to watch except the parents and kids

I'll take the junior dragsters over throttle stop cars every time. I enjoy watching them.
Those kids are getting to race during a national event. Who here has ever dreamed of doing that? I'd bet it's a large majority.
It gives them a head start on learning how to compete for if, and/or when, they get into full sized cars. They are the next generation of racers.

Why can't they keep the 8.90/9.90 in place but require the driver to hit the number unaided? I still don't see why throttle stops et al are needed.

throttle stop / no throttle stop reminds me of the low buck guy with vega that won that big dollar bracket race in st. louis last year? two years ago?
i believe his combination had zero electronic gadgets?

Michael Reed, they would on the next train and never see them again.

Mike Larson, I believe your thinking Jeff Verde in Vegas. Towed His firebird with open trailer, slept in his truck, and collected a lot of cash.

I understand racers in these classes are on these forums and have both money and emotion involved. That said.....

If not having these devices means guys will refuse to participate, that's their choice. I'd rather see the classes without, even if it means more breakouts (or double breakouts).

i forgot about him. i'm thinking about a st. louis race. his name is donnie and can't remember last name. same story as yours though.
huge field. no electronics car. green vega with no hood. towed to race, almost didn't go. big money. i can remember reading the story.

Michael, why would you chase away a racer because a non racer doesnt like something in your class. Doesnt make sense. However I'm not a fan of them myself but they are deeply rooted and arent going any where

"Chase away?" Why would NHRA "chase away" non-GM Pro Stocks, or Factory X cars, or pick your PS Bike manufacturer?

If the delay boxes, throttle stops, name your crutch were removed, nobody is chased away. You may agree or disagree with a given rule change in any class, but the racer either adapts or voluntarily decides to run elsewhere.

Put the juniors on nitro. That would be a hoot. Heck, I’d stick around to watch that!
Pls no,then the parents would think they are the kings of the sport and mom and dad would take over the drag race and send top fuel and funny car home

So you seem to be a closed-minded person that if you don't like it they shouldn't be on the track. Several of the professional racers out there now started in Jr's so build a bridge and get over it. You are not forced to watch them. Go get your fill of autograph seekers during that time.

All bye's in eliminations should be in the first round.
OR ....... why not just make most national events 64 car fields. a 6 round race w/no byes.
run 128 car fields at gators, indy, and maybe one or two others. divisionals can run odd numbered fields with byes.
for example, 67 super stockers @ vegas2. lots of byes, early and late. 7 rounds. why not just have 64 cars with no byes and finish in 6 rounds?
if you win a 7 rnd. race, do you get one more round of points than if you had won a 6 round race? i'm not exactly sure how that works.

You sound just like a jr parent. Me me me

I've really never paid much attention to the JR Dragster class because I never had a dog in the hunt. But since the beginning I always wondered
why they never ran any 2 strokes. Imagine a shifter kart setup in a dragster. It would sound good and put MUCH more talent required upon the driver.
Bring the RPMs up dump the clutch and hit the shift points.
Today's setup is as we said when automatic trans became the thing was, stab it and steer it.
