Nitromater Recruitment (11 Viewers)

The recent guesswork around who is in the Force slots created some off season banter and grew to a good number of pages. But if you’re bored, maybe resurrect what was the longest thread in Mayer lore. How many pages for that?

Great idea! I went to this other site and got a whole bunch of people into drag racing to join us. They were on something called Yellow- something or other…. Should be a real hoot!😆
That place went to crap. I visit it every once in a while. I joined the Phantom Bullet when it went down.

Ghio was a great guy, and super talented. That one was a tough loss, and there had been a few.

As for Franklin, yeah- the OGs from here can tell you some crazy stuff about his posts; he definitely leaned towards Alternative Engineering.
Hell- that's twenty-some years ago, I think.

Ray and I started communicating a lot about three or four months before he passed. I miss him to this day. I hate that I never got to meet him in person.

Well, I'll never get those 5 minutes of my life back. I scrolled through a few pages of that thread and it's basically the same 2 guys going back and forth every few minutes for the whole weekend. Not my idea of an interesting or entertaining post but I guess to each their own. I'm sure there have been many other long posts here over the years that have had a lot more substance to them.

When (we) went to actual names and the verification vetting - that was a good thing. Kind of held you accountable in some ways. There’s been some fantastic conversations here over the years; and yes there been some really dumb stuff too. I think you need a little of both actually. But knowing people’s names really seems to make a difference.

There’s some amazing people here; and some who’ve we lost along the way. When I’m talking racing with someone - someone who I feel would compliment the nitromater community…. I still point them in this direction. But hey - just because you like racing and cars and have a computer doesn’t automatically make you a great ‘Mater. You have to really show respect and listen; but don’t be afraid to fly your own flag too. We are a community - full of awesome folks!

I skimmed through it too, jumping around. I think I saw only one post from someone whose name I recognized from the present.

Man that post thread is 19 years old - that's pretty wild, but also speaks to the quality of this site I say, that it's still working and working good.

It's funny his name came up here. Just last week I did a Google search on his name out of curiosity and he hasn't been active on any forums (under his own name, anyway) for at least 10 years. I didn't agree with much of what he said but he sure kept it interesting. And in the days of "hiding behind the keyboard" he always used his real name.

Alternative Engineering... I was impressed by his Propter.

Though maybe 'impressed' isn't quite the right word. But it did make an impression.

It's too bad that old-fashioned message boards like this are out of fashion. Everyone has been over at FB and Instagram, etc for years. I have done a few random searches of this site of threads from say 15 or 20 years ago, and there are many names that we no longer see posting (who knows if they are still lurking) but also many posts from actual racers and crew members. Now, it is hard to get any good inside info since few insiders seem to post here. Not sure how we can change that.
Personally,
IDC if this is considered "out of fashion" it's one of -- if NOT the best run forum out there.
I too have a mod gig but I am on here far more, with zero "social accounts" because of the mass drama queens and fakes arguing over a lotta NADA, which is more negative hooey ALL people can do without.
It's enjoyable to be here, people that say that about the "social" don't usually keep saying it for these reasons of love, hate, argue rinse & repeat...
In an age where disrespect is flung around like a loose clown balloon instead of the opposite, no wonder so many people struggle on so many levels.
"Pile on until they're not breathing" isn't making society better and the way the rest of the world reads this activity isn't gaining respect.
IMO forums tend to help carry history - most things on the social sites are not always that dependable.

probably can't and won't. insider information is just that. insider information, and the majority of us on this site are not insiders.
in fact, i would go so far to say, there are more than a few on here that know, or are aware of certain things, but out of respect
they do not just post for the sake of posting. every once in a while there might be a hint of something on here; which usually spawns
a new thread or two and about 2-3 weeks of posts to keep us all occupied ;)

I also have no "social accounts". Best social media quote I've ever heard: "The problem right now with social media is we've gotten way to used to insulting each other without getting punched in the face" Mike Tyson.
