Nitromater Recruitment (1 Viewer)

Way back at the start we used a nickname, but at some point we were required to change them to our actual name. We didn’t change accounts, just the name displayed. So that’s why they all show up with real names even back to the very early threads.
I don't think it goes back as far as some of some of us do; I was 98percentnitro back when I started, and 20+ years of threads would be A LOT to storage for any web page. @Shannon Timm - how deep are the archives?

Oh the way back machine. I think I arrived 2001 or 2 ish, Used to be good at pick the winners until I took it over when the previous person disappeared around 05 I think.

It was fun when we had drivers, owners and crew that were able to hide and interact behind fake names (or have a fake name and also an account with their real name)
I always loved when a keyboard genius would be arguing with a racer about something, not having any clue how wrong they were AND who they were trying to argue with.

Too many knuckleheads went too far, so the call was made to go to real names. Sadly, it did chase many insiders away from posting, but not lurking. I know I've been reached out to several times through the years. It did clean the place up though. With drivers being able to use social media to interact with fans and hopefully monetize it, I get them not being here as much but it would be nice. We actually do have a few left and several crew people, but if you don't know crew people, you don't know.

As mentioned, Ray was a legend, I miss him as well. He loved caching any errors I made in Pick the Winners, especially when it was 120+ people playing and all done on a spreadsheet. I would get a gleeful email or text in typical Ray humor that I had to read a few times to figure out.

Never thought it would happen but became a fan of Bazemore after his mater call out to HipRoger on TV and the kindness he showed him. Got to meet Roger at a race even.

Meet some great friends through here

also some.....characters

The great sunglasses debate I think was the ultimate battle of the titans around here.

Here's to the next 25 years :)

The data goes all the way back to July 8th of 2006 when we first started using Real Names.

I joined July of 2025. I'm new.
I rarely visited prior but now check in almost daily.
I can't stand FB but unfortunately it's a necessary evil these days.

I think the internet would be a much better place if you had to put your real name every time.

As far as real pictures... I wouldn't subject you to that. I actually only have one picture of myself on the ENTIRE internet.

But I wouldn't want your site to be sued for infringement because I just look too much like a certain celebrity....

Not for me!!! (effF ~ fb) ;)

I hate it as well, but what can you do?
I don't think sending mail via the USPS is quicker.

Life was better in the 70/80's was better. No phones, cameras, etc.....
We don't have to like the new tech, but it's here. Either deal with it unfortunately or live off the grid.
I follow FB for events to race and market place.
Sold a bunch of stuff from my recently deceased sister's house on FB.
No harm,just saying

ALTERNATIVE measures.
I use other means, good for you - it's not for me.
I've spent decades with two to four monitors in front of my face to earn a living, and no stranger to technology, I program my own stuff now, but don't have to if I so choose...
I don't hate on everything either and I don't "follow" near as well as I lead - so that's what I'll do.
FWIW, 99.99987 % of 'today's people' couldn't live off the grid for a week if they had to. I still like my own independent thinking and creativity and that is being sucked out of people too. This site isn't loaded with the drama queen hooey that goes with "being social" and it's far better because of it!
Evil isn't necessary or required too, so don't settle for mediocrity.
Jus' sayin' .... ;)

I'm not hating!
Just showing my age😁

I just hate that everyone is stuck with their phone in their face while trying to have a conversation. If I'm sitting near you and trying to have a conversation, Put The Dam Phone Down!

Rant over.
@Mark Mueller
It's probably about time I say welcome aboard the best run site in the Western Hemisphere!
When every other "person" is spewing the word "hate" it's not always easy to NOT get sucked in...just don't do it!!

When you use the word "hate" you don't appear to be showing much love, and the world can sure use more LOVE.
I guess if you got up and walked off - they might get the message (but getting offended over NIL is the next knee-jerk reaction of that type), but the level or rudeness and respect has become a large imbalance - it's trying to be "the norm" for now.
I suspect slapping the damn thing outta their paws is too strong of a message - but if you try it, LMK how that works out!! 🙃
Don't settle for mediocrity and EXPECT more, and if they can't see the forest for the trees, find others that will, you'll have a happier day because of it.
Age? I've got a few minutes on you and "it gets better with age" is one of the biggest B$ stories in life!

I show my age with the COPD, arthritis, diabetes and chronic pain I live with every day...and try hard not to be a crabby b@$t&rd along the way. ;)
There are more graceful ways to show one's age - and I think some of the elder gents here can help lead that way of thinking.
@Harry Canoles (is one) funny man and he truly lives life on his sleeve according to his writings, but while being quite humorous & without offending many folks. (you'll quickly learn there are plenty more too)
I sure hope I get to bear witness to a few more decades of n!Tr0 @zz wH00p!N' to enjoy. if everyday is a gift - I'm looking forward to more of them if the Good Lord is willing...n!Tr0 heals!
