Try taking the family to an NFL, NHL or NBA game sometime.

I just attended the Ark--Texas A&M football game a couple of weeks ago at the new Cowboy's stadium in Arlington. $35 for two hot dogs, two beers, and one order of nachos. Not to mention $300 EACH tickets (compliments of wife's law firm). $14 for margarita for wife (well after all she was responsible for free tickets) and $5.50 for about 4 or 5 bites of ice cream. I know NHRA stuff sounds high, but in comparison to other sports, it is not as bad. Lets face it, having fun is expensive, and many of us are having less fun in a bad economy. No way in heck would I have been there were the tickets not free. I am an Ark season ticket holder and passed on the $85 nose bleed seats. Count me as one who does not blame the 1000 foot stuff--I feel it would be bad regardless because of the bad economy.

Damn I sure wish your Razorbacks would have taken down Florida on Saturday, I thought they were going to do it at the end! I can't stand them Gators.
My Iowa Hawkeyes are starting to come around, their D is looking good, offense is starting to come around. Can't wait to play Ohio St. in about a month.

We gave them more than they wanted. Just too many missed opportunities. At least Petrino has them headed in the right direction.

I was reading a music forum about U2 playing at the new Cowboy Stadium last week or so. People were claiming they were charging $40- $75 for PARKING! Is that true???? If so NHRA fans should feel lucky.

Maybe so, but U2 is the Top drawing act in the country right now so they CAN Charge that! "If" NHRA had to turn away people at the gates I could see your comparison. But as we all know that is far from being the case.

We paid $20 for the college game, but sister in law who lives in Allen said it was $75 for Cowboys game.

NHRA is a NON PROFIT Not $$$ Business.
Bobby Nice job on the Reunion I did not go to Alhambra's 30 year due to 125.00 price.

The people that get Axed were once the ones we racers needed to talk to as they will be Div tech and others that help us get into races or cars certified.

No one will answer the phones anymore in Div offices they will need to raise chassis certs to $100 bucks and only do them at some track they will be scheduled to run. Maybe on Tuesday or Wednesday. Going to cost us more to drag that car down to track and everything else.

OF BOX NOW!

I think the racing is closer than it has ever been. It's hard to fault the show. I'm really surprised that they have maintained the car count particularly in the pro classes. It just shows how addicting this sport can be.
If things were not tough enough with the economy, the weather at national events must of really hurt the NHRA, track operators and the race teams this year.
Traditionally the entertainment industry has done well in bad economic times. However there must be a ticket price range that fills up the stands. I'm sure they must have marketing people that analyze those statistics. At least when you get the fans there they then spend additional money on concessions and souvenirs. Plus it looks good for the TV audience and sponsors to see full grandstands.

Local sportswriter opinions is he will stay a while, especially if he builds a team like it looks like he is doing. Who knows???

Just remember,he told the Falcons owner he was in for the long haul and left the next day. I'm a huge Auburn fan and they tried to hire him but got caught doing it.Good Luck with him.

ya know...if they only raced to 60' the racing would be even closer...maybe that would help attendance?

2 words on the Falcon's deal--Michael Vick. What would you have done in his (Petrino's) situation? I think a lot of the heat he (Petrino) took was unjustified. Who knows how long any coach will stay--just enjoy or hate them while you have them!!

I know NHRA's attendance numbers are down as well as the car counts.

I live within a couple of miles of Miller Motorsports Park (Miller Motorsports Park | MMP Home) and It doesn't look to me like the attendance has been down this year BUT the car counts / Participation has been WAY down especially in the Factory backed cars.

AMA didn't even show up this year, I heard it was a money issue with them as well .

The American LeMans Series event this year had an absolute incredibly low car count.

The FIM World Super Bike was a HUGE event among fans and Participants, ( they didn't appear to be having the same issues that everyone else is having )

I don't follow Nascar so I have no idea on their car counts.

Hopefully next year things will start to improve, I know its going to be a LONG road to recovery, its not going to happen overnight, But I hope it starts to improve before ANY more damage is done.

NASCAR has had full fields but at some of the races, the last few spots were filled by low-budget teams who qualify, start the race and break on the first lap. They collect qualifying money and have low expenses.

Executive level leaders are compensated in a manner that reflects thier status within that Business not outsider personal feelings. Compton is probably under paid when compared to Presidents of other companies of a similar size/status.

If that is the case as far as Compton and Light go, then who are we comparing them to when it comes to their so-called "status" within the industry? Nascar, F1? There is no comparison. We are not talking about a Fortune 500 company for crying out loud! Your statement is made in a tone that seems to be acceptance because that is "what everyone else does". But does it make it right?
