It's a Damn Shame (4 Viewers)

If anyone would be interested, look for stories about Twin Branch Dragway, now known as 304 Motorsports Park. Talk about a double dealing mess, etc. at the beginning. Finally saved by the Kirk family thankfully. Maybe some of these IHRA facilities can be saved like this strip was, and many are in a better location for sure.

Ironically, Twin Branch was also an IHRA track originally also.

Guess it’s time to peel this off, such a shame
I'm not tossing the plate but I'm not displaying it either...
It is a damn shame - I've had this since Johnny Rocca was driving his own gear.

😕

If we get Maple Grove back, let's move Martin to late spring/early summer. We would lose the Countdown spot, but also get out of the rainy part of their season.
Cannot wait to see how ingress and egress will work @ Martin, with the two lane road as the only option

Remember 2007, when they moved the Maple Grove dates to August to avoid the rainy season? It rained, and they did not finish the race until Wednesday.

Oh I'd say those fellas will do alright getting in and out of there. If they did it for MG, they can likely get in and out of anywhere. That was the one thing, more than anything, that struck me my first visit there - they brought those haulers down these roads?

I remember when they had the IHRA Summer Nationals at Edgewater for 3 years, Barry Paton said that the winding, hilly, two lane road that ran along the river leading to the track took more courage and skill to navigate than driving his funny car did. At some points you were driving your semi just a few feet from the river

Eric, I was talking more about spectator traffic, best way out of there is to leave early and watch the last races by the fence @ the top end, then just leave. With an NHRA National event if you stay longer traffic should be a nightmare, even worse than Norwalk

The Maple Grove news could be bad, or it could be as simple as figuring out who is responsible for paying employees, insurance, other bills, and for running the races.

I’m guessing all the employees were working for IHRA. Might be a little late in the season to hire people when the racing is almost over.

There were probably many employees there when it was owned by the Kortetskys, and even before that, when it was owned by the Stauffer family. I'd bet the track, concession, and other employees are already there.
