Sounds like it is officially dead. RIP

I signed on because I truly belived this was a chance to resurrect something that once was Great and could be again. And it could have been.

I wasn't the first or last that was told by Darryl: "Make it Happen!" and then told by someone else: "Don't do what you know is right." After they talked to him and changed his mind.

You all know the names of people with tremendous respect in the industry who belived as I did and were ignored or had their expertise questioned by people who had less than zero knowledge about the sport.

Rich and I spent a day in Indy the day before he was fired (and the next day I quit) meeting with people who were ready to sign on and would have pushed the opperation forward in a very big way. Once we were gone, those deals were gone as well.

The funny thing is I bet those people who had Darryl's ear and told him to disregard the people he was paying to make the decisions? I bet they are all still on payroll.

I do believe that Darryl went into this with the intention of it being Great! Then instead of listening to experts that he hired, listened to morons who knew nothing about how to make this work.

Congrats to those guys, it was you, not us that cost Darryl a few hundred million dollars and left this mess for the racers who believed......

It's a shame definitely. It's also a shame that NHRA sued as well which I'm sure didn't help matters any.

I understand, but since it was settled without hearings, we'll never know just what that "financial damage" was.

By the same token, companies can also protect their financial interests but removing market competition (LBOs, hostile takeovers, etc.)

The entire affair is just sad from every angle and we all lose in the end.

Darryl may be able to run a business just not a racing series. The shame comes from his hubris.

I was hired in January '25 as VP of Racing Opperations. In early March '25 I resigned.

I was asked earlier this year to come back as a contractor to do announcing. Then I was terminated May 28th.

I agree Alan, those people that had (have) Darryl’s ear are the ones that made it very difficult for us that know what we are doing to do our jobs. We had to tiptoe around almost everything we did. It really wasn’t a good environment to work in, but for some reason I still really enjoyed doing what we were doing. It’s a damn shame, and all of this would make one hell of a Netflix special! I would partake!

Interesting concept, a movie about this whole thing......so start the casting. Maybe the movie can generate funds to pay people who got stiffed?

Who plays Alan? Alan Rickman? Clive Owen? Steve Buscemi?
Who plays Darryl Cuttell? I'd say John Goodman for starters.

There may not have been any "financial damage" in the end.

The point of the NHRA suit may have been solely to force IHRA to stop using trademarked names.

NHRA backpedaled. We were in the middle of the event when we were told we might have to stop using it. Then we were told to proceed as planned.
