This mural is painted in my new neighborhood, it is located at 6th and Madison in downtown Covington, KY. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the car or driver. Thanks!

Back in the mid 70's there was a shop that did many cool paint jobs on drag cars from T/F on down. Fat, Round, & Dobben not sure of the spelling or names, that was a long time ago. I doubt if that is any of their work, I did see on history channel one of the guys was still around.
Always would put some kind of a quote on the car. On the TF car I worked on it said
(Mr. President, it's not the crime it's not the thought, it's that you got your F*****g A** caught) 1973.
That painting also has the wrong competition number for a local racer.

From what I gather on the interwebs, it's street art painted by the artist collaboration "FAILE". Looks like it was painted in 2014.
The "competition number" is in regards to the year 1986, the year of the Challenger crash. I'm not sure what the connection is to the artist(s) but that's what Wikipedia says.

I know Covington had some recent big anniversary year, I am bummed that the mural is a figment of someone’s imagination rather than to commemorate a local racer, but it is better than 99% of the street “art” out there, so I am glad that it does exist. It is still pretty cool to drive by it every day.

No, where are you seeing that?
And it's clearly not a real car/team but props to the artist for their attention to detail and realism. The fact that "N.H.R.A. Record Holder" is in period correct font leads me to believe it's based something real.
The Moroso image Mike posted appears to be the basis for the artwork, so I guess the question is did this car ever hold the record?

Ahh OK I was looking at the actual mural. It appears that the mural was taken from this artwork. The description on the page you linked indicates that one form of artwork they do is bringing back childhood memories - like a magazine article/centerfold.
But those still appear to be based on real photos. Unfortunately a Google reverse image search didn't bring up anything.

whatever the case, the artwork, including car graphics, background, and guy holding car, is tremendous. it would be cool to find out how a '67 nova
became the focal point for all of this, not to mention the awesome mural.........i would guess high winding 327 back then? what class would this have been?
was super stock a viable class then? or just a stocker?

The decals and names on the car were probably altered to avoid trademark issues.
Bill Jenkins Chevy Nova ran A/Stock, was a killer for it's time.
