ESPN3 early tonight Las Vegas FRIDAY

That's it! I'm going back to the Prodigy coverage!

Hey, maybe Larry Sullivan can hook us up...'Ya just can't do enough sometimes..:p

Incorrect. If ESPN knew the NHRA schedule had session 2 start at 6:45, they should not have started ESPN3 at 5:45 and had an hour of "Please Stand By Your Event Is About To Begin." This had everything to do with ESPN.

There was no need to stay tuned to audiocast etc for an updated schedule, ESPN just flat started 1 hour before it was supposed to. And with NO bonus coverage, just the Stand By screen.

What I was saying was it said 5:45,thinking hmm maybe some early coverage,i was stupid and hurried up and got home to wait because it should have said 6:45 not 5:45. If your going to do something then do it right,at least once, not a mistake almost every time its on.

They do E3 right, Jeremy. Friday Rd2 qualifying, on time based on weather and conditions at the track. The only times we see Rd1 is when THE RACE is running behind- then we get additional coverage on the screen. You would think by now you would have figured that out, like the rest of us.

Done a bit of production television ;)... Your "Please Stand By" (PSB) screen is like showing up for sound check. Don't expect the show- just know that by locking broadcast and being able to transmit that screen, the show has less of a chance of having technical difficulties when I does go live. I do a few live awards shows during the year, and if we can lock down broadcast as far up the chain as we can, just short of being on your screen, within 15 minutes of going live, we are having a good day.

If I'm seeing the PSB screen and Rd2 racing hasn't started yet, it's a good thing. IF Rd2 was to have already started and the PSB screen is still on, more than likely the RACE itself is running behind.

The time shown listed was wrong, not right. Until they changed it at the last minute to 6:45

Guess it wouldnt have been so bad if i didnt rush to get home for it lol. Maybe everything will be right next time??

Jeromy,

Do what a lot of us do.

Turn your phone on to the audiocast, listen when you can at work and on the drive home, know that when the pro mods (depending on the race, of course) come up for Q2 it's time to make sure ESPN3 is cranked on.

Watch if you can .... hit the replay after you take the family out for dinner.

Saturday, turn the audiocast on in your workshop (if college football doesn't trump).

Now back to my packing up for the Vegas divisional .... roll out of here Sunday evening. It's a long haul, but a fun place to race and great places to go out and eat every night!

Jeff

ESPN3 is NOT free. You are paying your cable/satellite operator for the privilege. IF they put up the wrong time, as a paying customer, he has a right to complain.

A little common sense should have kicked in though ... If the time shown was 5:45EST, that would be 2:45 in Vegas. When do they ever run Q2 that early? I woulda checked LVMS or NHRAs website for verification and quickly found out there was an error and adjusted accordingly ... Or maybe I am just a weirdo because I automatically resolve time zones in my head when looking at schedules LOL.

As an aside, it is a complete travesty from a fans perspective that there is no night session in Vegas. Hey, I get it, the movers and shakers in the sport all bring their wives to Vegas and they got dinner plans and show tickets. Do that on Thursday or Monday. That track is outstanding for spectators and there is no noise curfew, so let the header flames rip!

I guess I'm lost here. I don't understand you guys. Jeremy I'm on your side bud, they listed the time an hour before Round 2 was supposed to start. I, like you, thought maybe with championship importance or as a "Sorry for our ****ty time slots" we would get bonus coverage of round 1. They have come on plenty of times and still be finishing round 1 of top fuel, stay silent during pro mod (but still show it) then come back for PSB round 2. In this case they just gave a please stand by for an hour + until round 2 began. They were making their ESPN3 schedule as reliable as their ESPN2 schedule - which is not very. No, it's not free, if you don't live in America, you don't get to see it. If you don't have one of ESPN's listed cable or satellite providers for TV service or Internet service (Which you have to PAY for) you don't get to see it. The list is even shorter for the Watch ESPN app to play on your iphone or andriod. Not sure why so many are so quick to jump on this fella and spout incorrect information. You can stop with the "Be happy with the current coverage because in my day.." crap too. It's not "your day" it is "Today" and today, if you're not live across all media outlets, you're old news.

AMEN lol

It is reasonable to expect ESPN3 to put up a correct time for coverage. There is a legitimate complaint for this point.

It is not reasonable to expect "bonus coverage" because they put up the wrong time. If there was going to be "bonus coverage" NHRA would have been shouting it from the digital rooftops, Twitter, Facebook, NHRA.com, etc. to let everyone know there would be "bonus coverage". There were no announcements from NHRA and the correct event schedules were at LVMS and NHRAs websites and history dictates that Q1 is not shown on ESPN3 nor is Q2 ever run that early ... I definitely wouldn't have sat there and stared at the "Please Stand By" screen for an hour and tried to parlay that into faux outrage over some "bonus coverage" I never should have expected to get.

History does show Q1 has been partially aired on ESPN3 before. Bonus coverage was not expected, just hoped for.

Am I the only one that had a audio problem on ESPN3? I heard the track announcer the whole time, real clearly, and in the background you could hear Mike Dunn and the other guys doing their show. I finally turned off the volume and used the NHRA audiocast for the sound.
