I just can't believe my eyes - I keep hoping I'll wake up and this will all be a nightmare. I can't believe that the smiling face I saw only an hour or so before that run - that smiling face so full of life - is gone from us forever. It's hard to compose this message while crying so hard. I can't believe that another precious light has gone out of our world, far too soon.

I can't even imagine what Eric's family and friends are going through right now. My heart goes out to them. My thoughts and prayers continue to be with all of Eric's family and extended family.

Rest in Peace, Eric. We will all miss you.

This is just the worst possible news. I feel so bad for his family...I have absolutely no desire to even want to go to the Vegas race. RIP Eric.

I lost my 100 year-old Grandma this morning, and now Eric. Both of them were very inspirational to me and a lot of other people. I'm comfortable that they're both in a better place. Whats left of my heart goes out to Eric's family, friends, teammates, fans, etc. Be good to one another. Turn off the TV and computer and call an old friend. Even at 100 years, life is too short.

There's no good way to hear this news, I suppose, but I got an e-mail with a statement from Don Schumacher Racing about Eric's death.
I was -- and still am -- in shock. Though I never met him at the track, I always enjoyed watching Eric race, both in person and on TV. I know I'm not the only one who enjoyed watching him do his thing behind the wheel of that Mustang and for that, I know Eric lived a good, if not all too short, life.
Rest In Peace, Eric.

I'm shocked and totally numb from this terrible news, I'm sure like many I was holding on to hopes that Eric could recover and its very hard to accept that he's gone now.

Eric, you brought tremendous spirit and uplifting energy into the world of drag racing. You set a great example for upcoming competitors and young fans on how to compete hard but fair and with a good word for your competitors even after a loss. REST IN PEACE young star, you'll never be forgotten.

Wow! This is soo hard to digest, alls I can say is I pray for John Medlin and Family during this Tough time! When I first heard of his crash I called Greg Rice who was with me in G-ville. He was telling me that just before one of the Pro sessions when all the drivers and crew walk the track. Some fans along the fence we're yelling out Eric's name, and without hesitation he hopped the wall and ran over to the fence and signed autographs for a few minutes.

As I had said on other threads; with the Easy access fans have to drivers in this sport. Hearing about a driver you had met, chatted with or even took a picture with. It makes these situations all too personal and Hard to deal with! Godspeed Eric, may you set the ET record in Heaven pal! Godbless:(

Our Heavenly Father has you in His Loving Arms now Eric and words cannot express the devastation many are feeling....

Prayers for comfort and understanding are being said and sent to the Medlen Family, John Force, his entire organization and to all of us that will forever miss you Eric.... Thank you for sharing with us who you are..... You brought much joy to your many friends and fans....

RIP Eric, we will miss you.....

This is a terrible tragedy. My prayers go out to the Medlin family.

I feel sooo bad for the Medlen family & JFR.

My son & I had the pleasure of meeting Eric at the Seattle race a couple years ago.He took a picture with us & shot the breeze with us like we were old friends.
I walked away feeling like he was the one that enjoyed taking a pic with us.Frankly I was JAZZED!
You just are never supposed to bury your children,I cannot even fathom the pain the Medlen's are feeling right now. Please just try to stay strong & realize just how many people loved your son & the profound & positive impact he had on everyone he met. God bless.

In his last ever win in a funny car, Eric beat John, the best there ever has been. He'll be continuing to beat 'em all up in heaven. Say hi to Darrell and Blaine for us bro.

Rest well.

That about sums it up. Say hi to Steve Evans and Buster Couch too. Godspeed Eric, you will be missed - until we meet on the other side...

This makes no sense. So young. Such a good guy. Can't find any words to make any sense of this. It's like St Louis 2004 all over again.

I love this sport.
I hate this sport.
I really, really hate this sport.

I just can not put into words how I feel today, I was at the track and we were testing a New Nascar for a race in texas next week and noticed I had 12 missed calls, I had tears in my eyes when I got to the second call, I can not beleive this is happened again, God Speed Eric, I know you will be watching down on us now, You and darrell have a front row seat now and Please, R.I.P
