might had to have taken a punch to start it all (and a few timely comments)
but he's been in the limelight quite a bit lately.
not all together a bad thing when fighting (pun intended) for exposure
with 30+ other professional teams.

Whit's a smart guy, no matter what anyone says. I'm hardcore JFR, but I respect Bazemore a lot, whether or not he'll admit the same for his nemises(sp?).
And I am sure the haters will blame Whit for that too!
So what....he flipped him the bird. Noone knows what was behind that. Until ya do.....SUSH already with every little move Whit makes. It may have been in jest. It may be a joke between them. It may be none of the above. Ooooh...it's about the "children"....yeah right! Ya don't think they see that on an expressway daily? Go to a Toys R Us at Christmastime....see how well behaved the public is. Whit can't be lookin for a camera every time he moves to make sure noone sees him. C'mon.....we live in the real world not some PC bubble. Quit trying to shelter so much.

I wasn't even aware this thread existed until I got a note from Judy Stropus (Whit's PR person) asking me to post this statement from Whit:
STATEMENT FROM WHIT BAZEMORE REGARDING RECENT REPORTS OF HIS MAKING AN INAPPROPRITE GESTURE TO SCOTT KALITTA AT INFINEON RACEWAY:
I was not making an inappropriate gesture to anyone. I was telling a young fan to wait a minute while I went back into the trailer to retrieve a Sharpie. If you study the TV footage in slow motion you can see that it is clearly my index finger. It does look suspect in real time, but I would never flip someone off in the presence of fans, especially young ones, who had started to crowd around when I walked out behind the car to pack the parachute. Plus, I do not know Scott Kalitta well enough to make that kind of gesture, even jokingly, and I had no reason to do it anyway.
I am extremely disappointed in ESPN's lack of discretion to air something that is so misleading.

I think that "STATEMENT" was an attempt to keep the Kallita camp from whoopin the Bazemore camp.. I hear a FUNNY CAR WAR brewing!! Whit may end up at the bottom of a MOSH PIT
