WOW! Where to start ? ...

Football season is finally over. :( However (note avatar) It's time to look ahead to the racing season!!

I finally enjoyed a GREAT cup of coffee out of my MICHIGAN mug again!! The curse is over!!! I tried to send this tOSU mug back to my buckeye friend but even HE didn't want it back after last night! :p

Teri, kenny I know what your going through. Hang in there. This will pass and we'll all be right back here next September starting this all over again. That's what makes college sports so great! It's not the money (maybe a little) but it's more the love of the game for these kids and pride in their school for them and their fans. Thanks to Steve for starting this whole mess! It has been the best thread!!

I will just say again IMO that a playoff is the ONLY way to sort the BCS out. We would be here for hours debating all of this. There are valid arguments to be made all over the place regarding who is number one, did the layoff hurt tOSU?, Is Florida a one hit wonder and Urban Meyer just did a better job of coming up with a game plan for 1 single game?, Is tOSU or the Big Ten over rated?, how would any of these teams do over a 3 or 4 game playoff run? We'll never know until we have a playoff.

Some claim the entire SEC conference is so strong TOP to BOTTOM (not just Florida). I'm not saying they are or they are not. I'm just pointing out that If that is the case and Florida 's schedule was so difficult then why did the almighty SEC go 1 and 3 against the "weak" BIG TEN in the bowls? The almighty SEC should have dominated ALL 3 games if they are so good TOP to BOTTOM. Didn't happen. 1 championship game doesn't determine the better conference. Again... a playoff is the only answer. Now If Florida rolls like they did last night for 3 or 4 consecutive playoff games over BCS teams then they are without question National champs. As for now, under the current system, they are indeed National champs and congrats to the Florida Gators! They were the best team in the country ... last night.

Mike ... congrats on your bowl predictions victory! Good job. That was fun PJ. Thanks. Congrats to everyone and their teams that won their bowl games! In particular the LSU and Bosie State Maters!

This has been a blast!! At times It's been fun, maddening, embarrassing :D, gut wrenching, exciting and on and on. Most importantly for me I've gotten to know all of you a little better and I'm glad. I'm looking forward to talking drag racing with everyone . That is until I have to put these buckeye supporters in their place next September!! :D GO BLUE ... BEAT ohio state 2007!!!!!

My retail therapy session helped today & I am still a proud OHIO STATE BUCKEYE fan!! Even tho' we did stink big time last night, we will redeem ourselves on 9-22 & we will really redeem ourselves on 11-17 when we beat that Michigan team (sorry Dave & PJ)!!:p

I agree with Dave, thanks Steve for starting this thread, I bet you never thought it would grow to be this big!!! It has been alot of fun & I am glad to say I have made some new friends!!:)

See, thats what I'm talking about. The SEC went 1-2 (not 1-3) against the Big 10 head to head. Bowl games are about matchups, The Tenn/Penn St. game was very competitive & the best team won. The Wisc/Ark game, 11-1 Wisc struggled against a decent 10-3 Ark, Wisc only had 206 yds of total offense, -5 yards rushing, I think they had negative yardage in the second half. Again, strong defense from Ark. Ark had 368 total yards, but couldn't score. Wisconsin stepped up & won another close game. Kudos to them.

In those 2 games, Wisc only scored 17 & Penn State scored 13 by the offense. However, I think the better teams won both of those games.

The Big 10 went 2-5 this bowl season, with their media darling big 2 schools getting hammered. The SEC went 6-3 this bowl season, with dominating wins over Ohio State & Notre Dame. That is what shows conference strength, top to bottom. Saying they are a stronger CONFERENCE does not automatically mean that Arkansas is a better team than Wisconsin. I don't believe they were, and the game proved it. Make sense?

Anyway, to sum this up, I totally agree with you on the playoff, I will not call Florida national champions. Could Boise State beat Florida??? Maybe so. Could LSU beat USC in the semi-finals, maybe so. A decent playoff system is the only way to settle things.... ON THE FIELD...

You are right, it creates drama & it is fun jawing back & forth and debating! I defend my conference, but mean no disrespect to anyone. Best of luck to everyone's favorites in '07/'08...

You are correct about the SEC vs BIG TEN record. 1 and 2. You probably said it better than I. There are so many outside factors that come into play throughout a season. It is impossible to determine a better team, conference, player etc... without head to head play. Im NOT trying to disrespect the SEC either. Not at all. The SEC is a STRONG conference!! I actually think LSU is the best team but again that doesn't matter. The Florida Gators are national champs.

I expected the Gators to win, but this blow out was mind boggling. 1 game, 2 teams, you never know what you're going to get in college football.

Gary Why Is Everyone So Pissed Off Down In La Because Saban Went To Bama? He Coached There And Then Went To The Dolphins (which I Figured Was A Bad Move And It Was) And Now He's Returning To College Again. You Already Have A Coach At Lsu So He Took The Big Opening At Alabama. So What. He Brought You Guys A National Championship. What More Do You Want?

because when your old coach goes to one of your biggest rivals......it tends to set off some bad feelings....i can imagine how they feel down in LSU....it would be like if Ditka went to coach the Packers

Justin, truthfully it ain't me... You always have some die hard fans that think no matter what that only one team exists......It's kinda like what Ricky Bobby said......"If you ain't first......your last!!!!!" Personally I don't think LSU has done bad at all since Saban has been gone. I don't blame Saban for leaving the PRO game....with the primadonna's that are in the pro game..(except for the Saints of course ;) ) I would much rather coach on the college level....Now of course by him going to Bama it makes it more interesting come next November 3rd, but I think its a good move for him.......I couldn't pass up on the cartoon though.....there are a bunch of peeved LSU fans that think he committed the ultimate mortal sin!!!LMAO

I know Gary, thats what I was saying. Thats all I keep hearing down here on the sports radio station, "Saban stabbed us in the back" "Saban's the devil" "Saban this, Saban that" and I was just like the guy brought you a national championship, get off his back. I guess it would be like trying to replace Dom Capers here in Houston, there isint anybody who sucks that bad! I cant believe I heard the Dolphins were thinking about hiring him as well. They would be worse than ever.

Its magnified X10 because its Alabama, an arch rival... After only 2 years, he goes to a rival SEC team, then tries to hire LSU's OC, S&C coach, and will be recruiting Louisiana kids.

And its all perceived to be about money... Ironically, I understand Jimbo Fisher had already verbally committed to Bobby Bowden, Alabama / Saban made him a much larger offer, but he declined & took the FSU OC job. I guess some guys out there still have integrity, but not many!!!

I not fond of what Saban did but I understand. I our own little worlds we often do what we want, espcecially financially speaking. Still in my eyes he quit on the Dolphins, or didn't live up to what he said. It was a good time to go with the Pats being the Pats, the Jets on the rise, and the Bills young and getting tougher. I don't care how he does at Alabama, but I would like to see the Dolphins surprise us next season.

Why was it a bad move that Satan went to Miami? He went to one of the NFLs proudest franchises, with an owner in Huezinga that has never been afraid to spend $$, but Nick still managed to have a losing record this year after going 9-7 last year. Word out of Miami and on the Dolphin message boards that I frequent (I`m a big fish fan) was Nicks wife didn`t like south Florida or the NFL life and wanted to leave. Bottom line is he quit on the Dolphins and I lost all respect for the guy...especially after stating three times in a month that he wasn`t taking the Alabama job. Just another lame ass college coach who couldn`t cut it in the pros imo.

Tom, why do you call them 'tater aggies'? BSU is not an agricultural institute, perhaps you`re confusing them with the Univ. of Idaho up north (but somehow I doubt that). Hard to believe Boise was a Div. 1-AA school a little over ten years ago, but that program has enjoyed tremendous success throughout its history.
lol... I just have a bad habit of using goofy nicknames for schools (even my own) and pretty much anything with "State" is eligible for an Aggie tag of some sort. I've got nothing against the school or the team and in fact enjoyed all the fans that I interacted with both before and after the game last week. It's all in good fun.

Here's a list of some of my favorite nicknames:

Univ. Of Okla. - Dirt Burglars
Univ. Of TX - Longwhorns, ForlornHorns, saxeT
Okla State Univ. - Cow Lovers, Sheep Humpers, Okie Lite (plus many, many more)
TX A&M - TexAgs
Texas Tech - Sand Aggies
Florida State - F S Who
Miami - Thug U
USC (California) - SUC, University of Spoiled Children
USC (South Carolina) - {No pun needed here}
Kansas State - Purple Puddytats
Arizona State - Solar Satans
Nebraska - Bugeaters

The list goes on and on... :D

Yep I'll live, It sucks though, I live in Texas, was born and raised in Ohio and went to College at LSU, so I have a place in my Heart for all, luckily I've had the pleasure of enjoying them all win a National Championship in the last few years. I look forward to next season, (BTW the hardest game to watch has been the Texas/Ohio State games the last two years). I've been on a diet since New Years to get rid of the spare tire I've grown over the last few years but after last nights debacle in Glendale I broke down and had a bowl of ice cream smothered in hot fudge and whipped cream. I needed to feel better, it didn't help too much, only made me feel guilty....Congradulations Florida on a great win, a playoff system and not being off for nearly two months would much improve our College Football experiance.....
