Yep I'll live, It sucks though, I live in Texas, was born and raised in Ohio and went to College at LSU, so I have a place in my Heart for all, luckily I've had the pleasure of enjoying them all win a National Championship in the last few years. I look forward to next season, (BTW the hardest game to watch has been the Texas/Ohio State games the last two years). I've been on a diet since New Years to get rid of the spare tire I've grown over the last few years but after last nights debacle in Glendale I broke down and had a bowl of ice cream smothered in hot fudge and whipped cream. I needed to feel better, it didn't help too much, only made me feel guilty....Congradulations Florida on a great win, a playoff system and not being off for nearly two months would much improve our College Football experiance.....

I know Kenny, it was hard to watch! I had some retail therapy today & it helped for awhile. The new season will be here before ya know it & we will be beating up on Michigan again!!!:p

Wanna bet??? Here we go again ..... :D
I was talking my buckeye friend down off the ledge earlier today when I said at least you don't have TWO horrible losses to end your season and haunt you!! That cheered him up so Im hoping maybe it might help you both. That's all the sympathy you will get from me... Buckeyes! From here on we are enemys again! ;) :D

GO BLUE!!!

That's a good way to look at it Dave & we have eight months to come up with some good bets!! Did ya smash the coffee mug to bits?

No I haven't decided just what to do with this thing yet. Now I think that I might get more enjoyment by bringing it out when my buddy comes to visit just as a constant reminder to him of their last game! :D

GO BLUE!!!

Well, the Huskers turned out to be lackluster at best with glimmers of greatness here and there, but I think Callahan has turned the corner on turning a long time option team into a west coast team--he is noted for being a great recruiter, and hopefully he can come up with some more talent for next year that better fits his offensive and defensive schemes--we're gonna have to be much better next year to compete--Tom and OU, Tim and the Horns, and even Okie State look to be pretty darn tough again next year. Time will tell. In the meantime, GO HUSKERS! And by the way, no power or heat yet.....

Terry,

Nebraska beat Auburn statistically in almost every category. But Callahan's playing calling cost them the game in the Cotton Bowl... starting with the fake punt. And then on the last series, he calls a play on 3rd that results in a loss, moving them out of field goal range... please explain that one to me.

I still think Callahan can take NU back to the top. As you noted, he and his staff have done a phenomenal job in recruiting and that is where it all starts. You also have to have complete buy-in from those players which I think he gets. That's what made Nebraska so great in years past. They were able to do more with unrated recruiting classes than any other school because the kids would kill themselves for T.O. and Devaney.

Plans to see Oklahoma State (my casual fan team) 9/1 at Georgia. UVA has a date in Wyoming that day. The buzz in Charlotte over Chris Leak in the Gators is huge in the paper and on sports radio. He went to Independence High School! He won a state championship each year at QB, now a National title for UF. And the biggest trend that had me betting the Gators: only 1 Heisman Trophy winner has won in the BCS title game.:D

Hi Greg! I agree about some of the play calling, and there were many more instances of retrospective "questionable calls" all year. Callahan does tend to get a little crazy at times, but I have to admit after all of those years (albeit successful years) of dives up the middle etc. and Jamaal Lord pass attempts that often landed closer to the Omaha city limits than memorial stadium, I kinda enjoy watching the unsuspected happen-even if it does backfire sometimes. I agree with you--I think the kids have bought in to the Callahan system, and that will help. I think next season will be pivotal for NU--and Callahan. Talk to you later.

Nobody is going through anything CLOSE to what Romo's going through right now. :p :D

Oh man...aint' that the truth......I have a dilema in the NFL right now, I love the Cowboys who are out, and I love the Saints who are in, BUT a friend of mine is the coach of the Bears (I work with his sister, I know his whole family) so IF the Saints win and IF the Bears win this weekend I won't know who to root for.....oh well may the best team take it all. My guess is Saints/Bears NFC and Patriots/Ravens AFC....

take from me kenny....a chicago boy, born and raised........root for DA BEARS!!!

and which coach is a friend of yours?

Lovie Smith, I work with His Sister Shelly, We've worked together for over ten years, I've watched him move up over the years from the college ranks to the pro's, He's a good man and His Family are good people, real down to earth folks, hard working with a strong faith in God, very humble, If you ever met any of them you would never know that there was an NFL coach in the family, except for the Bears hats, jackets, t-shirts, bumper stickers, purses, hat pins ect.:)

It's been about 48 hours since anyone has posted on this thread. I don't remember this thread ever being this far down in the forum. Is this it? Do we need to officially sign off on this one? I feel a tear ..... :D

i think we would be more sentimental if any of our teams (save the longhorns and the cough LSU cough tigers cough) would have ended the year on a winning note!!! As you can see i am prepping for race season and have changed my avitar to advocate the switch

You're exactly right Mike. I changed my avatar back on pg 63. The Rose Bowl left a real bad taste in my mouth and I'm really looking forward to the racing season and a fresh start for my WOLVERINES in the fall. I'll be headed down your way a few times this summer. My buddy (the buckeye fan ) lives down there and is a huge NASCAR guy (figures from a buckeye ... hey Teri :p) He get's us hospitality tickets for the Chicago event. I'm taking him to a drag race or two this summer and exposing him to REAL horsepower!!

GO BLUE!!!

I was thinking yesterday that I missed this thread.:( It was alot of fun.
Terry, if you are out there how are things going???
I couldn't really find anything to change my avatar to, so I just put up a better looking BUCKEYE one!!!:p
Dave, when you go see your BUCKEYE friend, take him your mug!!! After the sting of losing to Florida wears off, he might really appreciate it!!!
I am with ya'll tho', I am ready for the races to start.

Yes indeed, it is time to put away the thoughts of college football for another season... except for scholarship signing day, NFL combine reports, NFL Draft day, Spring practice reports, Spring scrimmages, tracking the coaching staff changes...

OK everybody, since this thread is nearly done...lets keep it going with a "draft day lineup"! How does everyone think the teams will pick come draft day? Will our favorite college players go early or later than expected? I havent seen the actual team order for draft, but I heard Oakland has the first pick...so my pick as number1 goes to Jamarcus Russell from LSU! I think he can breath new life into Moss and the rest of the offensive line better than Troy Smith or Quinn could (please dont kill me Teri):D Troy will still go before Brady though!

Tim
I was with you all along until your Troy Smith/Brady Quinn predictions. Brady Quinn will be long gone before Troy Smith is even considered. I agree with you 100% though about Jamarcus Russell. He will need every bit of his size the way that Raider offensive line is!
