JaMarcus will most likely be the #1 pick... Brady won't be far behind. Calvin Johnson will be top 5, possibly Adrian Peterson as well.

It will be a long day for Troy Smith, he was not a lock for the 1st round to begin with, but his performance in the championship game will bring him back to a 2nd, possibly 3rd round pick.

I was thinking yesterday that I missed this thread.:( It was alot of fun.
Terry, if you are out there how are things going???
I couldn't really find anything to change my avatar to, so I just put up a better looking BUCKEYE one!!!:p
Dave, when you go see your BUCKEYE friend, take him your mug!!! After the sting of losing to Florida wears off, he might really appreciate it!!!
I am with ya'll tho', I am ready for the races to start.
Yep, Teri, I'm here! Finally got power last Friday night! Wow! Been trying to get caught up on the bowl games I missed via the "condensed" ESPN versions. Alas, still haven't seen the Oklahoma Boise state game since Fox doesn't seem to be re-running it anytime. I'll keep looking though.
Tim, I agree about keeping this thread running--it's been a whole lot of fun and I'm really glad I've gotten to know you maters through it.
So now I have power and it's really great, but now I'm feeling guilty since there are still 4000 Neb households without power and I really feel for them. Kudos to all the power teams that are literally working their a$$es off in sub zero cold so we all can be warm again. This has been quite a deal. Hope it was a 100 year storm as they call them. Anyway Hi to everyone and thanks for all the good thoughts during my unscheduled visit to the dark ages!

Terry,

Nebraska beat Auburn statistically in almost every category. But Callahan's playing calling cost them the game in the Cotton Bowl... starting with the fake punt. And then on the last series, he calls a play on 3rd that results in a loss, moving them out of field goal range... please explain that one to me.

I still think Callahan can take NU back to the top. As you noted, he and his staff have done a phenomenal job in recruiting and that is where it all starts. You also have to have complete buy-in from those players which I think he gets. That's what made Nebraska so great in years past. They were able to do more with unrated recruiting classes than any other school because the kids would kill themselves for T.O. and Devaney.

Stats are for losers and Callahans play calling might have something to do with Auburn's defence stuffing everything they tried in the seconed half. In the SEC defence is what wins games and if you don't think that's true, ask the Ohio St guys about those Gators.

WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi everyone! Don't have a lot to say, but just hated to see this thread fall to the bottom of the list. Hi to Dave, Tom, Tim, Teri, Kelly, and all the regulars on this thread. Maybe we can talk about recruiting efforts and who will be high up in the polls next year. Tim, I saw one poll that has the Horns at #3 next year! Maybe we need to change the focus of this thread, or maybe Steve B. can come up with another one that will be as long lived and fun as this one! Hope so!

USC is gonna be the preseason #1.....they have almost everyone except Dwayne Jarrett and Steve Smith coming back.....michigan and texas will be in the top five, prolly with West Virginia and Louisville......and if my irish are in the top 20 i will be surprised cuz we are just losing to much, but we got Jimmy Clausen coming in for his freshman year, and i beleive he was the highest rated incoming freshman QB, so the hopefully the next Brday Quinn is on his way to south bend!!!!!

That's what I heard also--I think Callahan has some pretty good recruits on the string also--but I certainly don't see a pre season top 10 rating for the Huskers next year--we got a way to go to earn that kind of respect. Plus, some husker fans are soooooooooooooo fickle--there's already a very vocal, influential, and RICH minority group calling for Callahan's head. I think he at least deserves next season before we do anything rash here in bugeater land. Good to hear from you Mike! BTW, I checked out your info and answered a question I was going to ask you--so you are of the Chi-town Hustler Minicks! Way cool! Do you get free admissions to any of Prof. Hawley's schools or anything???

Texas has a great recruiting class coming in this year, but seems to be top heavy on QB recruits. I hate to see talent leave because lack of playing time as Jevan Snead did. I hope he has great success at Ole Miss this year! Texas lost a bunch of key players this past year ,so filling those slots will be tough.
Luckily, Texas doesnt have to play Ohio State again this year, but our strength of schedule will suffer because of it. It's going to be a long off season for some of us here due to the way our teams finished off the season...I never would have imagined Texas losing the final 2 games as they did! At least they won the bowl game...BARELY

Sorry everyone, but I just could'nt let this thread slip away yet...I guess I'm having separation issues letting this thread go!:) :p
Just kidding around! I hope everyone is doing well out there! I hope to meet some of you all at the Dallas and Baytown Mater meetings this year if any of you attend those races.

This thread must die.

Oh, come on, Tom! Where else on the mater has there been so much snappy reparte' and good sportsmanship? Maybe we can just change its focus a little? By the way, I will be sending you a scan of the Draw check real soon. Just came back in the last statement. Good wager, good cause. Maybe we just need to start a "keep in touch" thread for the die hards on this one. Any ideas Tim, Dave, Teri, Kelly, and all the other regular contributors?

Hey Terry

How's everything? I was thinking of you last week. We had an ice storm here in Michigan that was pretty bad. Not near what you just went through but still alot of ice.

Ya, come on Tom! We've come this far. We need to keep it going! I admit I thought about a cerimonial closing of this thread but I've changed my mind. I think there is enough off season activity to keep this running. We'll keep it on cruise control for the summer. The regulars can stop in with some draft or scrimmage chat, etc... just to keep it going. Heck maybe we can mix in some drag racing! :D Periodically I'd like to be able to jump in here and throw a jab or two at my buckeye counterparts! How's it going Teri?? It may not be football season but MICHIGAN vs ohio state never rests! :D

Hope everyone is well!

don't say cerimonial closing Teri will be back in here with her chanting and voodoo stuff :)

it can't close, with drafts coming up and buckeyes to rip on we could go on for years

Hi Dave!

Yep, I'm doing much better with power, etc. Working on getting over the cold I caught during the storm. I heard about your ice storm and was hoping it wasn't as bad as what we had. Glad to hear that it wasn't. Thanks for keeping the ol' Nebraskan in our thoughts! I DO really want to keep this thread going--for some reason this is the one place where I really got to "know" you guys. We all talk back and forth on the other threads too, but here, it seems to be more like a phone call or something, and considering our vastly differing collegiate loyalty backgrounds, it's been soooo cool to have a reason to cheer for teams you never did before. I vote to keep it going just so we can all keep in touch. By the way, Teri is sending me some REAL buckeyes, and I'm sending her a genuine ear of Nebr. corn. How's that for cool?

BEWARE, PJ! Teri is making me a part of the voodoo by sending me some REAL buckeyes!!! Gotta try something--the Huskers are gonna need all the help in the big 12 next year they can get. The Horns, OU, and even OSU look to be real powerhouses. Some voodoo may be in order in bugeater land.

see she is possesing you. look she already has you going by her name...granted she tried to be sneaky with the different spelling and all but I fugured it out.

those buckeyes are a dangerous bread....well unless you're a gator

ok that is bad, even from me :D

Watch out, PJ! I can hear the voodoo drums (they DO use drums, don't they?) starting up in the background.....fear the buckeye (but I wouldn't be too worried about the Nebraska ear of corn for now--seems to lack necessary mojo or something....)
