I do think I'm going to be able to watch--the generator will give me light and actual running water (but no heat--my new high dollar furnace is too computerized and sensitive to get going with the generator--bummer) and will power the tv and the satellite dish--one catch though--is the game on Fox? Our fox affiliate has also been hit by the storm and is on a cycle of 6 hr rolling blackouts to save power (it's that bad out here!) and hopefully they can cycle so we can see the game--
The ear of corn is ready and I'm planning on rooting heavily for the buckeyes since it seems Tim's Horns are the only team to step for all us maters so far!
I'm back at work at my job as Ebusiness manager for Allmand Bros (
Allmand Home) in Holdrege for the first day since the storm hit. Holdrege still has no real power and the city is running on generators--but not enough spare power for the industrial stuff like us. We got a 1 meg generation set (about the size of a semi for those of you playing at home) installed yesterday and it is now powering the plant--the costs are staggering--the generator is approx $20,000 per Week rental and uses approximately 1200 gal of diesel fuel per 24 hr period. But as long as it's running and the plant is open, I can steal a little time to check in on materland!
Enough about the power thing Good Luck Teri, Go Buckeyes, and Lord willing I may finally get to see a great bowl game--the ear of corn is ready and waiting!
