Didn't want this to be buried in another thread.
Please see this thread for what I am talking about: http://www.nitromater.com/nhra/28376-two-questions-one-ps-one-pm.html
Apparently, to someone in the thread, unless I actually got into a car and raced myself, that makes anything I say invalid and/or stupid. Never mind that other people here can say basically the same thing about said driver, and no one says anything to them.
Well that in itself, is stupid. While it's cool to have first-hand experience at doing something (If I came into money I would be racing, believe me!), I don't think it's required to have opinions about the goings on in a sport, this or any other! Having that mindset is just, well, silly.
Here is an example of what I am talking about:
Person A: Hey man, did you see have many dropped passes that wide receiver had in last night's game? Based on that crappy performance in that game and other games the team should bench him!
Person B: Tell me, have you ever played pro football? No? What experience do you have, collecting autographs?! If there was an issue with that wide receiver, I think that the coaches would have piped up a long time ago!
See how silly person B looks? Same as here. If having personal, first-hand experience was required like a lot of people here say it is, than a lot of people would not be able to say anything about their favorite sport. Oh, and say goodbye to a lot of journalists and sportswriters, too.
