One thing I've noticed about people complaining about gas prices, nobody changes the way they drive! They'll buy some 'snake oil' fix or pour acetone in their system, but they don't modify their driving.
Jackrabbit starts, on and off the throttle driving, still going 90 mph in a 75 zone etc.
I just changed the tires on my Mom's trooper too, bought her some non-aggressive Dunlops (couldn't help but think of Ron when I did so), and Dad and I changed them Friday night.
Tune ups, regular oil changes, clean air filters, these things help!
Easing into the gas when you take off from a stoplight, and even dropping your speed just a bit. Those help too!
It's a lot more fun to take off like your about to be treed by the guy in the minivan next to you, but if you wanna save a little bit of gas. Take it easy!
Jenn, I'm with you. My current demo is a 08 malibu V-6. Use to set the cruise between 75 and 80, now at about 70. Mileage is up from 28 to 30 up to 34 and 35.
Since you asked, the dash also shows an average MPG readout as well and it sits at 27.6 today. We've put over four thousand miles on it to achieve that with only one road trip.C'mon Doc, you know why the Vette gets that kind of mileage on the highway... it's the overdrive gear. What kind of mileage do you get around town or in mixed driving?

You would have known this first hand if you would have just driven it to me like I pleaded with you to do. I suppose your Ford Pride couldn't allow you to have that much fun in a plain old Chevy, huh?
See, the woman is right![]()
It's just the 6 speed auto with paddle shifters. It's not a stick like "real men" drive. I have as much interest in a clutch as I do a shovel. Too much work to really enjoy yourself.Bobby, is your vette a stick or auto? Nice choice by the way!
