There have been a few guys that ran twin engine dragsters in competition years ago.
Are there currently any classes in NHRA where a twin engine car would be legal if someone wanted to build one?

The last one I can remember is the Allen Hartley Double Vision TAD in the 90’s. Had the Cavaleri brothers tuning. The combo might still be legal. I think they ran nitrous oxide but not positive.

I can't think of any classes that currently allow more than one engine, and definitely not TAD, that was written out of the rule book by early/mid '90s. In that same era, around '92, my dad built 2 647 cube Hemis on nitrous for Lou Patane who had a beautiful Frameworks car built for the double engine combo. It was a wild machine. I'll see if I can find a pic, or maybe someone has one they can post.

I drove one of the last two motor cars for Leo Dunn. It was a fun car to drive but way to heavy for the times. In it's day it did fit well and Joe Ortega drove it. Leo's daughter now has restored it and takes it to the CHRR. If you see it, it has two splits in the cowling that due to a big tire shake that didn't do my body any good. another beautiful car still running is the two motor flat head front motor dragster the runs at the CHRR. Called flat head Jack.

A funny story about Leo's car, I was at Sacramento running the two motor car and Leo told friends of mine that were also running there that the reason the car is not running better is that Larry is not making a good enough burn out SO I heard that from them and I made a 800 ft. burn out the next run (fact) and after the run I asked Leo how was that burn out. He said it was OK. BTW it ran the same ET.🤣

The Double vision car did run gas & nitrous. Saw it run at Firebird. Lou Patane ran the car first on gas & nitrous, then took one engine out & ran A/FD. It did pretty good in that configuration. Larry, I remember seeing the Dunn car at Lions. Was a cool car.
