If you've only got 1 nitrous car left that isn't even full time anymore, and you want to get more of them to come back, adding weight to them seems like an... interesting decision

I am not sure but perhaps it is to make sure teams aren’t using the ECU to manipulate the charge pressure during the run.
Correct. They can not manipulate charge pressure after the release of the transbrake.

Remember when you came up with a combination and hoped it would smoke every car in your class? If it did you became Grumpy or Big Daddy or a Snake or maybe a Bounty Hunter. Now we tell you what to build and what parts you can use, so there are no more Lee Shepherds or Kenny Bernsteins….
Except in those cases, they were competing in classes with the same combinations (obv PS had parity issues given the different manufactures), whereas in Pro Mod, NHRA is tasked with trying to create parity with all the available combinations, and still encourage variety. Not an easy job.

If I may ask a dumb question - what is the average weight of a nitrous car without ballast? In other words, assume there was no minimum weight rule, what would these cars weigh?
No underlying motive, just curious whether NHRA keeps adding more and more weight or if the cars are already close to the minimum weight and this is just tweaking things.

Hey let’s change the rules to make sure nitrous cars never show up! Rickie had two NHRA races on his schedule this year and they add weight because he made some good runs, hardly a trend.

You got that right. Ricky is qualifying in the middle of the field at PDRA races. He makes a couple of good runs, bam.. Hit him with more weight. Promod started with just nitrous cars O for the return of those days.
