Outstanding event coverage so far. Great camera coverage with my favorite being the rod cap exiting the motor. The back stories are great. Hats off to ESPN.

Manzo Vs Tigges Finals, that'll be mentioned at the points race @ E-town this weekend when Manzo Vs Tigges face off in the semis of the Cecil County event. I hope for Uncle Frankie to make history but I also hope the Massachusetts native pulls the upset.

they cut off after the pros I can't see the Alky and Super Stock finals now to see if Gary Richard can finally win one. :(

Agreed. The Sat & Sun shows were much more balanced! Usually they brownnose that one particular person, but this time they didn't! Much more fairer to the other teams, sponsors, and fans. So very refreshing!
Great job ESPN2!
Thank you for having Ace in the booth!
Thank you ESPN3 for the Monday webcast. Loved the cacklefest.

I still don't quite get the one announcer who is deadpan when something amazing happens and excited when something doesn't.

i think they waisted a little too much time with all the history . . every year they show the same stuff and in a 6 hour telecast ,round 2 wasn't over until it was almost 5 hours into it.

Well, I live in Australia and my ESPN3 had the US Nationals scheduled. So I go to put it on at 11pm (12 hours ahead of the east coast) My sister and I are all set for the first round and what do ESPN Australia do? They take the coverage off. This is the first time all season that they've taken it off and they did it right before the race started. Of all times to do such a thing, they do it with The US Nationals. I can't wait to just be back in America.

I wish I could have seen any of it. No love from AFN at all, typically I get to watch the finals, but its not scheduled to be shown. ESPN3, no love for those of us overseas.:( So if anyone wants to help a fellow American whose down on his luck... to quote the old Bugs Bunny cartoon, it would be much appreciated.

The worst part of the coverage was not even NHRA's fault - it was ESPN insisting on showing ads from companies that prey on people's stupidity! Penny bids, payday loans etc! Ad revenue must be really tight at ESPN.

The "ultra-mo" shot of Millican's boomer sure got Mike Dunn fired up when it first happened. Seeing the rod cap just kind of floating behind the cockpit was pretty cool. And, it was replayed a bunch.
Overall, the program was much better than it has been in a long time.
It was great seeing all the interviews with drivers other than Force.
Was Shirley actually speechless when the grandstand was named in her honor? That had to have been a first. But, it was a well deserved honor.

those ads you mentioned are inserted by the local cable provider.

btw, thanks for the nice comments. we worked very hard and put in a lot of hours, but we love it otherwise we wouldn't do what we do!

also, thanks to all the maters who came up and said hello to me in the pits. nice to put some faces to the names!

ESPN UK has a six-hour show scheduled for tomorrow afternoon (Wednesday), 2.30pm right through to 8.30pm.

Six hours!!!???

Then the Sportsman hour and PM half-hour next week.

x2....the segment on Vincent Nobile and the interview with Hector Sr. and Jr. was awesome! I also liked having John at the top end interviewing the loser (although, I bet you were running around like a mad man). Great job ESPN.

That was Terry McMillen who had the boomer.....Unfortunately, Clay Millican did not qualify.

I agree 100% I watched 12-1 and I had to do other things. I turned it back on at 4:30 only round 2 I was thinkin holy crap. It is the same every year. You don't need to show the DRAG RACING FANS WATCHING IT, what Indy means and how important it is, we know. My head explodes with that many interviews. Nice to know of the 45 mins of racing and maybe 5 hours and 15 mins of "filler" maybe. I'm not ungrateful, it was done by espn well, but over 5 hours of non racing coverage yesterday and over 2 hours for every other show, I miss an equal balance of racing or reporting.

It feels like espn is trying to cater indy to a LARGE audience, new drag fans. Get Indy on ABC and 12-6 is perfect as the history lesson is for newbies and not us.
