Very interesting technology. I can see that becoming, if not mandatory, “highly recommended” in the near future.
The technology to collect data and show results is really great for research, but so far there is no way for the higher mass Brain to keep from moving in the less dense Cerebrospinal Fluid when inertia changes so fast you have a great amount of - Gravitional Forces (GForce) going from 300+ MPH to Zero instantly. Once again basic Physics shows us that the human Brain which is about (60/40) fat and combined others has a Specific Gravity of between 1.03 & 1.26 and the CS fluid a SG of 1. Inertia shows us that the denser Brain is going to try to keep moving 1.25 times more than the less dense fluid. Multiply this by the GForce number and you have "Houston We have a Problem"! In this Case the number that the RacePak got was 50. Include that with the age factor and it is almost unbelievable that John is still with Us. I don't think it was Elvis that he saw this time - Pretty sure this time it was a way higer "Pay Grade" that helped him.

Ok Roger, your new handle is Dr. Spock! :p

Well put Roger. Also take into account that he is medically speaking a "geriatric" patient with all of the issues that go along with that. Found a video that may help to shed light on the way the brain moves around in the skull during a traumatic deceleration.

Can't be Dr. because in 1983 I quit the Doctorial Program I was in - Left the San Frenando Valley and moved to a real place to live in the mountains outside of Bakersfield. Beside that these race vehicles don't care at all about Labels. They are however a little easier to understand if you can use Math - Physics - Analytics and most of all try to develop a little "Common Sense". The last part seems to be the hardest.;)

I’d say it’s still valuable from a medical triage aspect and a forensic one. Especially considering the difference between what the racepak g meter experiences vs the actual helmet smacking sidebar padding or reaching the limit of HANS device travel. Surely neurologists have the ability to choose between different modalities based on G, and the helmet (or in the future, headsock, technology willing) mounted g meter would be about the best non-invasive data to go off of. If neurology isn’t quite there yet though, I defer to your thoughts.

I wonder what FOX recorded from the in car camera before it went out. Some funny cars have their levers at the very edge of the tv safe frame. I wonder how many good frames it transmitted to the production truck before it went out or was knocked out of place or focus.
What they showed for Wilkerson is what I had in mind. Since there was nothing "gross" or not "TV approriate," I think it would be valuable to see/share.

I wonder how he is doing.I guess we will never know.
My opinion is that John's likely improving day by day but A, he's likely not at the point to where he can be deemed fit to return to racing or when that might be, and B, the family doesn't want to be bombarded with constant questions about when or if. So "John is improving and doing well" is about all for now. Which in itself is great news. No one wants to see John retire on account of an injury but I believe he was on the cusp of stepping down anyway. He's earned that right. ;)

I thought he may have made an appearance in Indy. I hope he recovers to the point of living a normal life but driving again I think is totally out of the question.
That may be so, but I'm thinking that decision will be influenced more by his family that John himself. History shows he's a survivor and the king of comebacks. John will retire on his own terms if and when that day comes.

I don't think he'll be cleared to drive again (be it Dr or Family), hope I'm wrong but assuming that.
Dream scenariois then one last full track burnout into a retirement where he is fully recovered and can run his teams.

You're acting like I'm making the decision if he drives again or not. I was merely expressing an opinion that probably many others have.

To me this is the perfect way to end his driving career. Doing this at Pomona or Indy.

As I mentioned before, do a full track burnout stop then do a match race style turnaround idling back to the start line get out of the car and hand over the key to Auston.

If he can't get cleared to drive, at least tow him from the top end to starting line for the handover ceremony.

With his legacy and being the face of the sport for so long it has amazed me the updates have become few and far between. Honestly, it makes me wonder if it did something to his speech or why would they be keeping him " hidden" i figured one of his daughters would have at least posted a quick video of him to their social media platforms of him saying good luck to jack and to drive that hot rod to the finals or something along those lines just for a publicity stand point
