It's official JFR and Prock part ways (15 Viewers)

Hoping to see Tommy Johnson JR getting that empty seat!
Tommy Johnson seems like a good guy, and of course he as the experience, but we need some of these younger drivers stepping up.

If no funding were required, how about Krista Baldwin or Ida? I think Krista has to be in her mid-30's, but still "young" by today's standards.

Do not count out John Force racing. How many board room decision makers know John Force versus the Prock/Tasca family. Cornwell can read the tea leaves. Both will be just fine but early in the year my bets will be on John Force racing. Their clutch disc/tire inventory alone gives them a huge edge with any number of crew chiefs!

Since we're all speculating, I have a question: why hasn't Phil Burkhart Jr found a steady ride after being downsized from the Worsham's second team? I always felt he was very under rated, very good with the fans, etc. Anyone have insight on this?

That’s a good question, Jim. I was the bottom end/short block guy on that team for a bit. I still talk to Phil every once in a while. Not sure why he never got another shot at another full time ride. I know he is slated to drive the new Nitro Funny Car that Jay Blake is supposed to be bringing out.

Same reason that countless others haven't found full time rides, there's always going to be way more people that want to drive than there are seats. All of motorsports is that way. The only surefire way to guarantee a ride is to own it yourself.

I likely saw you several years ago then, lol. I was lucky enough to score hospitality area tickets at Sears Point the last year of the two car team, so I got to get close up between the teams. I was a fan of Phil's from the Nitro Fish days and he didn't disappoint. He was extremely generous with his time and I could tell he genuinely loved driving funny cars. If you happen to speak to him again, make sure you tell him a random-ass fan (Me) speaks highly of him.
