We are looking at taking a trip to a race this summer.

My two options are Norwalk, or Denver, due to vacation windows, etc.

Which one is a better choice, as I haven't been to either track.

Me, the wife, a 10 yr old and a 5 yr old ..

thanks

Come to the mountains! Timmah and I will be your tour guides :D
yeah what he said!

A couple of reasons why.
First...you need to make sure you are here by thursday so you can make it to the MOPAR block party.
Second...the kids would love a hiking trip at red rocks which is right behind the race track..
Third...the sound of the cars up there is epic!
Forth...COORS in golden...free tour...free beer...and soda for the kids.
Fifth...you will get great weather...
Sixth...BANDIMERE is a cool place! The staff is great.
Seventh...did i mention i was going to be there with chris Wilt?
Eighth...because if you like Beckman...you will like it cause he will win!
Ninth...ALAN REINHART winner circle...and a Budweiser in hand...thats entertainment.
And tenth...mile high club?

i have been to both tracks.
Norwalk is great track friendly staff than bandimere.Whole staff wears tuxedo's Air is either to breathe. 1lb of ice cream for a buck. baders are excellent people.
Bandimere is good track too. I like being able to stand by the dual finish line. When ya do it is right in the pits. I have had warren johnson allan johnson melissa yates and others standing by me chattin it up while the fuel cars run.
Pepsi is offered at bandimere. Itis hotter than hell air is thin. Mopar block party is way cool. and best of all COORS !!!!! 3 FREE BEERS !!!

We are leaning towards Denver .. seems like a lot of stuff for the kids to do in the Denver area.

Can't get info on tickets until monday .. they are sorting through all of their change requests right now .. did find out the TEC is sold out ..

anyone stayed at the Hampton Inn in Golden ?

If you've never been to Colorado, go to Bandimere-take a couple of extra days at least-go to Rocky Mountain National Park (north of Boulder)-drive down 285 south of Morrison until you come to Conifer-there is a great hot dog stand there-Coney Island Hot Dogs Go south to Colorado Springs-see the Garden of the Gods and either drive up the road to Pike's Peak or take the Cog Railroad up there. Of course, I love southwestern Colorado, so I'd tell you to make sure you had enough time to head down to the San Juan Mountains-take the road from Ouray to Silverton and go over to Telluride.

I miss going out to Telluride for the Bluegrass Fest, but now I've got this comp car and we have E-Town and the Atco points meet when that takes place.

Next year you want to do Norwalk, and of course the side attraction there is the Rock 'N Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland.

As for the Coors Brewery, well if you like beer, skip that and find out about some local microbrewery and go there instead. If that's not an option, still skip Coors and buy Fat Tire from a place that sells beer.

I'd say Denver too, plus if the kids are into the Jr. stuff, the Western Conference Finals are July 23-25... It's like Indy for the "little" cars, but as of late, there is nothing "little" about these cars or teams... You'll see as many stackers and toterhomes as you do at a National event, and a lot of these cars are becoming baby ground pounders. If the kids have an interest and your dates jive, Denver is the place to be.

personally I would do colorado. Never been there, heard it`s nice. I think that`s a rock lyric, anyway. We`ve been to norwalk. It`s usually so hot and muggy 9 out of 10 fuel cars run 60 ft. and smoke em. One thing northern ohio has going for it , is cedar point. Best collection of coasters in the country. That does`nt beat the mountains though. But I bet the kid`s would`nt mind.

Denver is a GREAT race, just remember sun screen. I never took my ball cap off all weekend and still got sun burned on my forehead through the hat. You'll love sitting on the mountain, there's nothing like it!!:D

Norwalk, Norwalk, Norwalk! I have been to both and Norwalk will be the choice I would make, by far. The pound of ice cream for a buck is awesome. Cedar Point is right up the street in Sandusky....just a better experience for both the racer and fan, in my opinion.

Ive not been to Norwalk, although I'd very much like to go just to experience the well-known, and well-reagrded, Bader hospitality.
I can tell you that Bandimere Speedway is a great place to visit. I've attended events all over the country and it is still my favorite.
Wear a hat and sunscreen - you're a mile closer to the sun. Drink plenty of water. Most of the altitude effects that people complain of are actually a result of insufficent hydration.
The walk in is uphill - you are on the side of a mountain, after all - once in, the stands reach downhill from the pits - moving back and forth is simple. The view is huge!
The Bandimere family is very conscious of who the customer is - this is a privately owned facility and these folks know that their livelihood depends on their great service. They improve the place every year.
Know, too, that Budweiser has a brewery just an hour or so away in Fort Collins. You can visit there and Coors both - you know, to do a comparison test.
Get ready to hear comments on the altitude every 10-12 seconds. Note that the altitude is the same in both lanes.
Cheers,
Ed

Have taken my daughter to Bandimere for 3 years it's a great race and the mountains are awesome. I grew up in Socal going to Pomona. The block party is great. WEAR Sunscreen.

Norwalk, Norwalk, Norwalk! I have been to both and Norwalk will be the choice I would make, by far. The pound of ice cream for a buck is awesome. Cedar Point is right up the street in Sandusky....just a better experience for both the racer and fan, in my opinion.

Norwalk is the race to go to !!! I live about 3 hours from the track!! AWESOME facility!!! NO General Admission Seating all reserved!!!!! Either side of the track is EXCELLENT!! Pitting on both sides, Pros and Alcohol Cars on right side/ Manufactures, Pro Bikes and Sportsmen on left side. Plenty of FREE parking, Ice Cream for $1.00 (a whole POUND!!!) The timing boards show Win light and times on the front and back of the boards!! AWESOME STAFF!! And Oh YEAH CEDAR POINT Amusement Park!!!! Home of 17 Kick ASS Roller Coasters!! You just have to do the NORWALK EXPERIENCE!!

I've benn to Norwalk many times, its my favortite track. Been the Denver but not for the races. You will see better performance at Norwalk but it really depends on what else besides racing you will want to do with the family.

Near Norwalk you have Cedar Point (home fo the most roller coasters) Khalarai(sp) huge indoor water park. The football and rock and roll hall of fames are a short drive away as well.

Denver is flat out gorgeous. If you haven't seen Mountains before you will be amazed. I've been to the area twice now and can't wait to get there again. Its one of the few places besides Michigan that I would consider moving to.

Either way you'll be going to a race and have stuff to do outside of it so you really can't go wrong

For the hardcore fan, the Staging Lanes is the place to be at Bandimere. That weekend, NHRA may run the schedule - but I guarantee you the Bandimere family is right there along side of them, making absolutely sure the spectators get what they came for.

The wife made the decision.. LOL

Denver this year, Norwalk next year .. the little guy isn't quit tall enough to ride the coasters at Cedar Point this year, so we will save that for next year.

I have been to Colorado, but never the Denver area.

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it ..
