Jackee, Kel is fine. Just no power. I had power yesterday afternoon, that is until 2 minutes before freaking kickoff of the Cowboys/Eagles game! Still dont have it. I had already given my generator to others to use but I got another one so all is well. Just wanting my power back.

Glenn, glad to hear your ok. Has anyone heard from Michelle Martindale?

I saw a whole BUNCH of utility trucks stopped at a Shoney's breakfast buffet in Winchester, Virginia this morning, which is at the top of the state. Hope you're not waiting for THEM to come down and fix anything! :D

Have seen the usual post hurricane convoys of utility trucks making their way south all week.

Insidetopalcohol's been down for days. Will last posted that he was leaving the area and leaving his board to moderators. Don't know if his servers are in the power affected area or what.

Hiya Justin! I'm fine. We evacuated to Mena, AR and are still there. They say our power should be back by September 23rd so we're shooting for going home then. We had a few friends that stayed (and wished they hadn't) that checked the house and say it's fine. Mostly limbs and wind damage around.

I'm glad to see that everyone is doing fine. There's a lot of folks in Crystal Beach, Bridge City and Orange that didn't do so well.

Thanks so much for thinking of me! :D

Likewise Justin. Glad ya'll pulled through.

I hope to have some pictures up of the devastation in my neighborhood as soon as I can find time to sit down and do it. They say I won't have internet until power is restored.

I have to say that the north side of the eye was a cakewalk compared to the southside. I will admit, Ike was one bad hombre.

Maybe the wind blowing one way loosens things up and the wind blowing the opposite direction is then able to rip more things loose? Or, is it higher MPH on the backside?

As far as property damage, I would say yes, that is very true.

Or, is it higher MPH on the backside?

I can say that everyone I have talked to said that the most of their damage (and mine too) came when the south side of the storm came through. Probably because of what you stated in the first question. My personal opinion, as well as others that went through this, said it seemed the south side was stronger (higher sustained MPH and gusts) along with more rain. What was unique about this storm was it's size which created longer time periods of the storm force winds. I think I heard this storm was 250 miles wide.

What is amazing to me now is how the storms maintain their intensity after making landfall. Used to they would make land fall, then lose their punch and then just drop a bunch of rain. Now it seems more and more are creating havoc over several states. This is just my humble opinion.

Well, I left Dallas Friday and that afternoon there were some pretty good storms in Arkansas already, coming up from the south. Enough that traffic slowed to a crawl a few times and it DID blow the truck around pretty good. Obviously something Ike threw off.

I'm in Mass now and a local says it went up west of here, through upstate New York.

I'm OK. Still no power at home or work. I'm at our Spring office working today. Woohoo! Civilization! They're estimating we will get power back at home around Oct. 6th. Geeze.

Fill y'all in later....lots of work to do!

Glad everyone else is OK! :)
