I wasnt planning on going anywhere but since Galveston's seawall is 16ft high and the water is already coming over it and the storm is still 20 hours away I might be rethinking that. Thats kinda crazy and scary. I am fixing to go wake Pam up and see what she wants to do. I may be Livingston bound.

Justin, Deer Park is so low-lying. That's what would concern me.

Y'all be safe whatever you decide to do!

You be safe, too Larry!

Yo, Larry Sullivan? Are you in Concord for the race?

Just great , an impressive storm . Nearly as large as the Gulf of Mexico.
The outer bands are still right offshore of Cuba , the Yucatan off the east coast of Florida and off Grand Isle La and the mouth of the Mississippi River.

It has Tropical storm winds out to 210 miles .
Last ones I remember this large were Allen and Gilbert.
I wish Ike would take a hike !
Here is a good link but the buoy's have been winking out like lights.

This storm is expected to gain more strength before landfall.
Folks once the action starts there's nothing you can do and if your roof goes!

Before you folks completely decide to "ride it out" (exactly what you might be doing!), try something. Go to that link above. Click on the zoom in button at the top left. Click on the right arrow at the bottom. Look at the projected ring of 74+ MPH winds and, see what the hell you just might be in for.

Luckily, I get paid to leave, which I'm about to do! See ya! Wouldn't want to be ya! :D

This does not look good. We are praying for all of you! There are plenty of evacuation shelters up here. They are fully stocked and ready for anyone who needs it. Please be safe everyone and get out of there!!!

they are predicting we will get 7 inches of rain up here over the weekend.

Just spoke to my sister who's visiting my Niece in Jersey Village, and she's saying "the winds are pretty calm now"! She won't be saying that 12-15 hrs from now, it's gonna be about 6 hrs. of Sh*t your pants!

Here at our house, we are ready (or as ready as you can be for a hurricane!).
Stocked up on groceries, full tanks of gas, boarded up & the generator is in place!!!

Everyone stay safe.

Since we had decided to put our house on the market after the first of the year we decided not to have the 20Kw natural gas generator installed. :o

That would be enough to run the whole house. I have a 5500 watt that will get plenty of use. They are predicting we could be without power for 16 days.

You are a geek Glenn.

Nice setup I'm viewing..oh I don't wanna see any way nasty ok?

We're thinking of ya's

Hey Glenn nice set up. Hopefully with a little ( a lot of ) luck you will only be cleaning up branches. Now it sounds like you have done all you can, so go to the back porch and wave ay us!!:o

All joking aside sometimes ya have to laugh. But you might want to take the fan blades off your out door fans. I live in Florida and it does make a difference. Last week at this time I did all the things you are doing or have done. But it missed us to the south, good luck.

You have a lovely home Glenn! Where city are you in?

I was just checking in on Galveston, and I believe it is going to be toast. There is a shot of the water coming over the seawall right in front of the statue and it does not look good.

Add beer and cigarettes to that list and you've got my inventory! Well, minus the boards. :D Oh, yeah...I forgot to mention Alan's R's thread when discussing my power or potential lack thereof. Dad went and got 2 generators.

Hey Kelly I like your stock pile, add wine and thats how we roll! Oh don't forget the pop corn for Monday night and the COWBOY'S!

I hope Glenn saw the suggestion about the outdoor ceiling fans, take them off it can make the difference of if they stay or if they go.

Sam, thanks for the tip. I never gave those fans a thought. Now you gone and make me do some work. :D Really appreciate the tip.

Suzie, thanks for the compliment. I am in Baytown, about 20 minutes from the race track..

Not a problem it works. Hell looks like you have the hard stuff done. Pop a beer, grab the ladder and the screw driver, I'll set here and watcha !

LOL.... hell your doing it, this is to damn funny!! I don't see the beer!
