Did I hear Drink tickets????

Funny story that has absolutely nothing to do with this thread, but does involve Southwest Airlines:

My wife and I went out drinking with some close, personal friends in Old Town (San Diego, CA) one night before I was scheduled to fly out at 6:45 AM the next morning. Margarita's and Tequila shots for the men, just Margarita's for the ladies. I'm a sailor, I do this for a living so I wasn't too worried about it. I've steamed till 4:00 AM in Hong Kong, caught the last Liberty Boat back to the ship and was dressed and ready for duty at 7:00 AM - no problem. Next day, sure enough, alarm goes off @ 3:45 - I get up, shower, dress, load the van and head out. The wife drops me off at about 5:15, I get checked in with am 'A' boarding pass, get through security and take a seat at my gate... where I promptly fall asleep. I awoke at exactly 6:45. I approach the gate to ask what the delay in boarding is and the gentleman asked if I was Mr. Carlon - not good, he knows my name! Apparently they had been calling me for 20 minutes!!! Anyway, they were great in getting me another flight to my destination - and I didn't sit down again until I was on the plane.:D

I vowed to tell no one of my misfortune but as the anger subsided I realized it was too damn funny to keep to myself. Heck, if you can't laugh at yourself, who can you laugh at?

I now return you to your regularly scheduled thread.

We were on a flight home from somewhere and Luigi Novelli was sitting next to me. When the plane touched down at Midway, he raised his hand in the air and made a motion as if he was hitting the chute levelers in a funny car. I about died laughin'....I wasn't scared anymore either.

I don't have a problem with O'Hare. The times I've been delayed, it's been because of weather. I typically don't check a bag either, so 20 minutes after landing, I'm in my car and going home.

For me, Midway is a pain in the ass to get to, because it's practically like driving to downtown Chicago.

So I'm guessing landing on the back of an aircraft carrier ain't your cup o' tea? My job sends me to sea (via the COD) about three times a year so I've garnered about a dozen arrested landings and I gotta tell ya, they're a rush of adrenaline. The cat shot ain't too shabby either...

That's funny!

When I was with for USAir Express I had Scott Kalitta, Bob Frey, Scott Palmer and various assorted other crewmembers on my airplane. I was the dork standing at the cockpit door welcoming folks aboard and got to shoot the breeze for a couple of minutes with Scott and Bob since they were sitting in the front.

My favorite though was Grumpy Jenkins. Had him on the airplane once, not too many other pax on the airplane. I wished him good luck when he was getting off the airplane, right before he whacked his noggin on an overhead. The flight attendant mentioned to me a couple of minutes after he got off the airplane how "Grumpy" he had been (literally, her words....). She couldn't understand why I thought that was funny since she didn't know who he was.

They won't give you a cash refund, but they issue a voucher for future travel and I have gotten $500 to $600 in vouchers in the last year and a half.

Dave Kommel... Hmmmmm that name sounds very familier... do I know you from someplace... I seem to remember some other guy in light blue pants, and he had an "Odd" shaped body.... Something like a PEAR and drank Diet Coke... ??

I'm getting older and forgetful.... BTW I saw some "OLD" photographer at E Town .. he had SHORTS on... can you imagine a Professional photographer wearing SHORTS LOL... or LIGHT BLUE PANTS..

Am I on track....:D PS I am now doing some work for the NY Times.. da ya think NHRA will give me a "Photo Pass" to E Town and Reading next yr. ??

I'm not a fan of SWA either. I don't like the cattle call seating and I like knowing I can sit in the front of the plane in the seat that I picked. I was delayed at O'Hare this weekend for my connection flight but the flight going in there was actually early despite leaving VPS late.

I usually fly AA because the airport near Thomas' base services AA, Delta, United, and that's about it.

AA didn't get my luggage on my connection flight on the way to FL this time but they delivered it out to the house a few hours later. The airport is about 45 minutesaway from the house.

I cant stand going to JFK-its like another world ,way too crazy for me.

Then there was the time I was flying Jet Blue to Ft Myers,I woke up to this terrible smell and what I thought was a cat screeching.Well it was the cat of the guy in the row behind me,the cat was ill ,and had the runs.Of course it was under my seat in a cardboard box!!! Oy!

I *****ed, and the customer service rep told me to let them know next time I fly and they will try to seat me away from pets!!

I like Midway, I am in there at least twice a month. I usually hit the Haray Caray's there for a snack and a brew.

MMMMMM Harry Carays at Midway. Flew through Miday once and had lunch there. Got the huge burger. I planned on going there again on the return trip, but was able to make an earlier flight, basically walked off my plane and heard them announcing a flight to BOS at the next gate, made a quick U-turn. Luckily for me we actually arrived about 20 min early and all I had was a carry on bag.

SW just announced a Fall Fare sale, I just knocked another $11 off my Vegas fare and $7 off my Phoenix fare in Nov!;)
