Just when you thought you have seen and heard it all. If I could take anybody out to dinner in this world, it would certainly be the person that invented a device that shakes my couch while watching racing.

Drummers use them all the time- a vibrating device that is attached to its own amp, and crossed-over for frequencies below 100hz...

what they don't tell you is that the trick to getting the best out of them is all in the soundtrack. If a soundtrack doesn't have a LFE channel the dang thing will shake anytime the frequency hits the range that this thing starts to shake....so expect dialogue to shake your couch, and music, and just about everything else. Another product that the technology actually does work, but because someone thinks it's only available through the TV commercial, ends-up buying something quite inferior.
Only an infomercial can make it sound as if it's brand spankin' new technology.

The crossover point is too high. 100Hz is only an octave and a half below middle C. The part of the "noise" that you can feel at a drag race is subsonic. Cross one of those thumpers over at 20Hz (or lower), and IF the audio source material has subsonic waves within it, then a thumper might be a viable addition to a decent speaker system.

Nitro is infrasonic? Hmmmmm ... I don't know about that. The human ear cannot hear below 28-32Hz. I used to be factory sponsored by Rockford Fosgate, I had an active crossover on my 12 inch subs on a 12db per octave slope at 60hz.
PS that was a long time ago '97 - '98 ... I haven't thought about it in a long time ... As it relates to this site I used to win most DB drags I entered LOL.

What you feel is subsonic. You could block out all frequencies reaching your ears above subsonic frequencies generated by nitro cars and you'd still feel the sound waves. Good ear plugs can make the noise level tolerable but they can't remove the effects of subsonic waves.
Low A on an 88-key properly tuned standard piano is 27.5Hz. If the human ear couldn't hear that note, piano keyboards would be shorter!
