What a team, that would be great for all concerned.

Now if I had been mighty mouse in the war room I'd probably found out that this had been in the works, might explain why Massey didn't show up in the mix. Now Now JMO

I'll add to the rumor-I was surprised flying back to San Francisco from Indy to see Steve Torrence on the plane. I didn't talk to him so I have no idea why he was flying to SF...

Langdon is LOCKED in the Top 10. The points go to the driver. #11 can NOT bump him out. It's a done deal. Langdon is also eligible to drive for another team and compete in the countdown. With that said, did Don Schumacher jump the gun by putting Khalid alBalooshi in Massey's vacated seat when there's a countdown eligible driver available?

Torrance is one option. Shawn could drive his dads car which qualified real good at Indy.
The other option, which I think is the better of the two is to drive Morgan Lucas car. Shawn and Morgan are good friends and has run with Lucas sponsorship in the past.

I would bet on him driving for Lucas.

The entry for this weekend is for Shawn, so he could still drive this weekend.

Neither Billy Torrance or Morgan Lucas are entered for this weekend so both cars are available. I think if either of them wanted Shawn they could make sure the car got to the track.

Not sure why any team in the countdown would add him. Without him you now only have 8 other drivers to fight for the title instead of 9, simply better odds.

You mean without him there are 9 other drivers. Connolly overtook Massey in points.

Yes but as a driver in it you are one of the 9, so you only have to beat 8 others now.

It just seems odd to me, that as of Friday Shawn was not entered. Come the Monday deadline, he's suddenly on the list. The next day, they announce AJ is pulling out for the year. Why even register unless Plan B was already lined up? Just thinking out loud.

Well that's a point I never thought of. Wonder if Clay would be interested?

Due to sponsor contracts and other obligations I doubt if anyone would be able to step out and allow Langdon or anyone else for that matter to compete in their car unless it was self sponsored. Only Torrence comes to mind and as stated before there's not much up side of allowing that. They would be better off with a blocker than an additional competitor.

Looks like Khalid's out...that was quick

HES BACK! After the shortest driving hiatus in history, Alan Johnson Racing has worked out a deal to loan world champion driver Shawn Langdon to Don Schumacher... Racing to compete for the NHRA top fuel championship! Very smart move on DSRs part to put one of the best drivers out there from the sidelines to the track to battle for the championship.

Yeah, doesn't surprise me. I figured Al Balooshi's deal was probably a race to race deal. Don's made a smart move IMHO. He replaced one countdourn qualified driver with another.
