This bites. Add a couple more t-shirts to the obsolete section of my wardrobe. Oh, well, it's the nature of the beast , right?

Yep I bought Brut myself , got em everywhere . Gillette razors too!
I still was hoping for the battle of the colognes in Funny Cars.
Brut vs English Leather or Old Spice.
I still like all three!
Did I say variety is the spice of Life?
Bummer , too bad it would have rivaled the Beer Wars !

Well, I've shown my support for Ron's sponsors by buying the apparel. I never dipped Skoal and Brut didn't make a fragrance for women. ;)

BUT, I sure as heck can go to NAPA. :)

As far as others, yes. I do give consideration to NHRA sponsors over other comparable products.

Some insight into the departure of Brut:

Brut was a brand of the Fabrege folks and wasbought by Mcgregor- I guess the sports gear Mcgregor. remember Namath and others being shaved by hot chicks?
Anyway Unilever has owned the brand and in Jan 2007 sold the Fabrege brand line to a CAYMAN ISLANDS company now called Fabrege LTD.

By the end of '07 Unilever will remove all Fabrege productsfrom its line.

I'll speculate that this could be the reason for the sponsor drop and nothing to do with marketing the prduct to the drag race fan demographic group.

Found this on wickpedia.

Don't believe everything you read on Wikipedia, not saying this is false but Wikipedia can be edited....

Brut hasn't been owned by Faberge in quite some time. They were owned by Helen of Troy :)

That must be why I saw the blue brut for 2.50 on the WalMart closeout shelf.

Appreciate the correction on the ownership- ANOTHER US product owned by an overseas company.
My theory of the sponsorship pull out is certainly not so.

Ironically, the can of Brut spray deoderant I have and it ain't all that old says " Chesborough-Ponds" - Brut's a well traveled brand!

What is the NHRA doing to help keep these companies?

er, uh, Charles... nothing apparently. ;) In fact, exactly what have you seen NHRA do to promote drag racing? Sell the Pros about covers it. Should be interesting to see where that goes.

I believe the sponsors who are doing the best jobs of advertising the sport, get a little tired of doing the sanctioning body's job. then they bolt.

Just my opinion of course. ;)

Brut's statement....Thanks for everything, Marc! :)

NHRA POWERade DRAG RACING SERIES

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – November 14, 2007

BRUT NHRA STATEMENT

INDIANAPOLIS - After a three-year run as a primary sponsor of the Ron Capps-driven Don Schumacher Racing nitro Funny Car, and as an official National Hot Rod Association series sponsor, BRUT will exit the sport effective as of the 2008 race season.

In explaining the rationale for BRUT’s NHRA departure, Marc Broccoli, Director, Men’s Category Marketing, Idelle Lab’s, Ltd. stated:

"While the NHRA sponsorship provided new visibility to BRUT, it is still, in the context of sports marketing sponsorships, a comparatively small brand. As the price of competitive, high-profile sponsorship in the Top Fuel classes of drag racing escalates, it has become very difficult for BRUT to remain as active and visible a participant as we want it to be. This was truly a difficult business decision, and made even more so by the fact that Don Schumacher Racing, Ron Capps and the NHRA all have proven to be truly outstanding partners and great friends. Our experience with the NHRA and its racing teams and the millions of fantastic drag racing fans has truly been a privilege for us. We will always look upon the era in which we reintroduced America to the BRUT brand through NHRA drag racing with great pride.”

The official staement IMHOP is a gracious one and left the door open for a return.

Who knows, when Brut ends up owned by Kellogs, or maybe Gallo, they may be back.

Talk about a product thats's been a red-headed ('scuse me Ma Green) step child!

What's Idelle Labs?

It was cool to see BRUT involved in the NHRA but....that cologne is nasty/cheap and far from todays popular list of smell good products for men over 35 years of age...kind of like 'old spice'...

POW right in the kisser!!!!!

Wonder why NHRA is trying to take the look/feel of NASCAR and in general why sponsors are tough to come by?

On that note, I can't believe that a release with that wording in it was made public.it looks bad for potential sponsors if they were to read that.
IMO

But, it is a true statement none the less!

Actually, the Brut Revolution smells pretty darn good! And it got the stamp of approval from my 13 year old. Hey, he's happy with a $14.99 cologne instead of $40 or $50 stuff from Hollister or Abercrombie. Mom's gotta like that!
