Just thought I'd post this here for the MN fans. I work in Andover, MN and was talking to a couple car guys the other day who were discussing Minnesota Dragways Rapids.
Thanks Nick,

Got 3.28 inches last night, and a LOT of wind. There was damage to houses a couple of miles to the south of me, and some there swear that it was a tornado. That isn't confirmed yet. The trees in MY back yard were sure doing the hula, let me tell you. Supposed to be one more day of rain today, then pretty nice this weekend.

Edit:

NOAA says there's chance of rain all weekend in Brainerd. Hope they're wrong.

Just checked the radar, and it looks like they just had some more showers move through.

They just announced on the PA that prostock cars and motorcycles are done for the day, as well as all sportsman classes.

IF they can get the track dry, they will run ONE round each of Funny Cars and T/F and that will be all for the first round of qualifying.

Great weekend! LOVED the FC results. The best weekend in the zoo yet. Ill post some stories another day. Only took one pic from the zoo though, having too much fun to stop and take photos.

- jag bar / pallet fire / ticki bar / bud corner / repeat

few problems over entire week according to sec. guy @ 5pm yesterday
- usual cast of high profile racers/owners having too much fun
- did not hear if morgan lucas defended his rick-shaw title?
- mechanical bull rite next to rick-shaw track was a riot to watch

and a lot of people not only knew the song but danced in stands as well :o

Couple of my notes and experiences as Bill Clinton through the zoo this weeknd

Bud corner now known as Lucas Oil corner (assuming because of Bud leaving the NHRA) - Was totally empty Saturday evening

The rickshaw area was totally dead every time I drove past it

Seemed like the new place to be is in the very back of the zoo. I saw Brandon Bernstein and Allen Johnson back there (AJ made me stop so that he could take a pic).

The BIR security - Ive heard they were great, and for the most part they were cool. Only a few power trippy guys (usually the ones with the walkie talkies) 1. Got called in for pulling wheelies early Friday (notice they got registration numbers on the ATV passes so they can log your infractions - you get 3 strikes then your out, I got one called in). I got a warning for speeding by the guard at the entrance with the goatee (I understand getting the warning, but the way he pulled us over and gave a minute long speech was lame). I was following a group of dudes on a party wagon asking for a beer. They went to get me one so as they were I was following right up on the back. A guard came up and goes "What do you think you are doing?" in this power trippy voice. I said Im just getting a beer from my friends. He goes "next time pull over". (again, appreciate the warning, but the tone and way he talked to us irked me - us, the dudes in the wagon couldn't believe it either.

But the vast majority of the security was awesome. I was talking to this one guy for 10 mins Friday and continued to screw around with him all of Saturday. Pulled a wheelie for two guards in a cart who were cool. Also some of the guards were waving and having fun. Overall they were great, but just those few guys who rubbed me the wrong way.

Walking to meet a friend at the back of the zoo, I hitched a ride on a golf cart. After a few mins of joking with them I noticed it was a nice golf cart. I asked "are you guys part of some crew?" The driver said I am, but this guy is a driver. I didn't recognize him, but it was Vince Nobile. Nice guy, it was his first race. I told him I remember his dad was a huge IHRA guy and asked where he was. Turns out he was in the cart behind us having cart trouble. They pulled aside to fix the problem when I got to shake John's hand and say thanks for the memories.

The clinton mask and suit was awesome! I lost track of how many pictures with people I got... and for every girl who wanted a pic I had them sit on my lap on the ATC. At one point I had two girls on each leg and a dude on the back popping the wheelie - I looked later and saw the wheelie bar was bent. Generally the older the people it seemed the cooler they were. I jumped in that bathtub car and got a pic with this 60 year old lady who was just having a blast.

Can't wait for next year! I have some great ideas. Overall a great weekend!

I'd swap Pro Stock motorcycles and snowmobiles for Pro Mod at Brainerd anytime

From Minnesota and you dont like PSM. I guess if you dont like them, fine. But you should know that Minnesota has had the some of the strongest Motorcycle Dragracers in the country, and that has included PSM.

I wont list all of the riders and accomplishments, but our motorcycle racers are one of the things that the bracket racers up here in Minnesota are pretty pround of, and that includes the car guys.

PSM is a great class, and it brings something different to the Nationals. if you dont all like it, fine, but there surely is a fan base for it. Great riders and rivelrys too. A class where the RT's (like PS) can play a major role in the outcome of the race more often than not.

I would like to see Pro Mod too, but not at the expense of PSM.

Hopefully there will NEVER be a national event in Brainerd without Pro Stock Motorcycles.

Mark Krogen's there, so of course it's raining! ;)

Yep, that now makes 7 of the last 9 events I've attended have lost a session to rain. The only place it hasn't rained is in a desert. Ok, everyone, prepare yourselves as I'll be at Indy, Ennis, and Vegas. Make sure you bring your rain gear. I may be permanently barred. Maybe I can make some money selling my services to drought-stricken farmers.

If PSM has such a strong following in Minnesota, Why do the stands empty out so much during them?

People leave when anything other than nitro runs.

TF runs / FC runs, PS is next and it looks like a bomb threat in the stands.

not everyone likes everything. i just said that there are plenty of people who do like the class.

if you are a "fan" of racing, maybe you dont get that. if you are a racer, then maybe you do.
