The two have certainly had some rough waters go under their bridge. Greg putting it out there that he didn't want to be in the other lane "when" and then the infamous photo in front of his trailer later. Both seem to have a respectful disdain for one another and it's healthy for the class.

Any time someone can reach a milestone like 100 you can't help but pull for them. Greg will get 100. It'll be tougher yet sweeter if he has to go through EE.

I was at Bristol when he won #1 and have been following him ever since. Have gotten to know him pretty well and agree if you have spoken to him it's hard not to be a fan. Got to see him break the record in Dallas and actually got a photo of me and Greg post race with me holding the Wally. To make it better, Jason Line took the photo for me! Also was at Pomona to see #99. Was hoping to see #100 at Sonoma but RT bit him again. Oh well, I'll be at Topeka and Indy so hope to see it there but won't be bummed if he gets it Sunday in Seattle.

There is an invisible asterisk in the P/S record books for Owner-Driver-Crewchief-engine builder vs hired driver
That's why I have always liked Pro Stock best although now there are less of those that do it all. At Sonoma, just before the final Greg's crew had to do an emergency engine swap. I counted 8 guys working on the car at once and NHRA (and I assume Elite) gave them some extra time which is why there was a delay between PSM and PS. Two of the guys working on Greg's car-Kyle Koretsky and Dallas Glenn.

The days of the Owner-Driver- engine builder are long gone. Its been over two decades since anyone with those credentials have won a championship. It clearly takes an ensemble to be competitive, in not only pro stock, but most other categories. Matt smith might be the last one who's successful and has those 3 credits on his resume. I believe Magaha and Tim wilkerson would qualify but over the last several years they've had average results at best

The Elite-Gray team rivalry which centered around Erica and Tanner Gray but also involved Elite driver Alex Laughlin was a lot more heated than Enders-Anderson ever was. Greg just didn't want to be the first to lose a race to a woman, said so in a finish line interview which pissed Erica off a little....and then the picture of her alongside Greg's transporter pissed Greg off a little. That's about all there was to it. Fans have made it seem worse than it actually was over the years.

. . . . and the thing is i'm pretty sure, if u ask Greg, Losing to a woman was not necessarily his point. I suspect he meant, he just didn't want to be the 'Guy' on the wrong side of history, similar to the pitcher, that gave up the record breaking home run or the defensive back that got burned, for the super bowl winning touchdown. It's his own fault, as he did not articulate the statement very well and of course Erica went on to use the statement ad nauseum and as the backdrop of her career

Backdrop for her carreer? really? Come on you can do better than that.

I've stated on here before, I was never a GA fan before I met him walking down an aisle at Autorama one year. He stopped and talked to us like he'd known us forever. My previous opinion of him had been solely based on what I saw on tv. He was very cool in person and even though he was there as a representative, he was in no hurry to brush us off and be on his way.

From what it appears on tv these days, it would seem the fans want to keep this GA vs Erika rivalry going more than they do. They seem to be very cordial to each other nowadays. Whoever wins. Of course they have a rivalry and want to beat each other, but it doesn't seem personal or malicious. That's the way I see it anyway.
I am the exact same way with Greg, I was in the anybody but GA club for awhile because he seemed to come off as a jerk when things did not go his way. However after talking to him a few times he comes across as very genuine and likeable, and even pretty funny. As far as the rivalry between Erica and Greg I think there is a true rivalry there. Both Greg and Erica do say they get up on the wheel a little more when they are facing each other, hell Greg nearly crashed a car trying to beat her earlier this year. I still think one of if not the single best pro stock races I have ever seen in person was when they met at the finals in 2019 in the first round after Greg played the qualifying game perfectly and faced her. Both cut stellar lights and both were within a few thou on the track, it was one of those rare races you could feel the electricity in the air.
