Activity on Nitromater

100 years ago Nitromater was the only place to talk and fight about stuff. A lot of forums are slowing way down due to Facebook groups and other social media.

Wow, not much activity on Mater lately. Must be the nice weather !
Yeah, it's not just because of the nice weather lately.... this place has been slow for a long time.

As Paul mentioned, I'm sure facebook is where everyone posts nowadays.... but I wouldn't know since I'm one of the few that hasn't given in to facebook yet. Lol.

About the only racing forums that I know that is still going real strong is a Nascar forum and an Indy car forum. But, they have the same major material as we do...they complain all day and night about prices for tickets, parking, food, hotels... how bad the tv coverage, ratings and low attendance is, how boring the racing is, and how screwed up the top brass is.

Whatever is going on, I still prefer nitromater over Facebook for racing discussion. This forum might have its opinionated people, but it's nowhere as bad as the jerks on Facebook

I don't do Facebook or Twitter. If I can't discuss it on a racing chat forum then I just don't discuss it.:)

Isn't that what we're supposed to do? :D

I read something here almost every day, but I don't post - or even log in - every time. I prefer a forum like this where the conversation is focused on topics I'm interested in. Facebook and the like you have to wade through too many bonehead or irrelevant comments. Facebook is advertisement and clickbait hell, so I only use it about once a year.

You know I was thinking the exact same thing a few day's ago.
I have seen the exact same thing on many other car related sites so it's not just this site for sure.

Anyone else read about how low the numbers have gotten for NFL football games on TV? Many of the team owners are trying to figure out where all the football fans went.

Professional golf and many other forms of sports including racing are seeing same trends and wondering what's going on.

It's my opinion that peoples interests are changing.

Facebook and Twitter are mainly used by people losing their jobs from "open mouth insert foot" disease and by young parents who would otherwise have to tie you to a chair to show you buckets of pictures of their kids

I combat kid pictures by posting pictures of my cats. And other random weird shit geared towards making people scratch their head and say "huh?"

I use social media personally and I run social media pages for my band, but racing discussion is dreadful on Facebook.

What kind of music do you play? I'm a prog rock kind of guy. Well, it doesn't have to be prog rock, anything with odd time signatures will do. I like seeing people flail trying to dance to something that isn't in 4/4, lol

wow guys talking about there cats.....please turn in your man card as you leave....thank you. JK!

anyone still have a Total Materhead badge? Yep a lot has changed around here since the beginning.

3 cats inside out ,2 outside, cows ,2 horses 1 dog. yeah live in country. People dump cats all the time.

Speaking of the facebook... go to the Pro Stock page over there and just mention Alderman or Geoffrion or post a picture of their cars and all hell breaks loose. Cheaters, coke dealer, Jerry Heckman had nitro in his tank too at joliet 1996 I saw it myself... The stuff is dreadful.

Using one's real name ensures civility - or, at least some level of conviction - on a forum. If you're not serious enough to stand by what you've said, I'm not going to waste a lot of time with it.
(Not aimed at you Tony - Just my general thought about I-Net forums)

PS: I love cat stuff (though I don't come here for it<G>.)

Used to be a lot of fun stuff posted here, until we had to start using real names.
