Winternationals Face Mask and Vaccine/Negative Test Requirements (1 Viewer)

Yes - Newsom is lifting the mandate on the 15th but L.A. County is keeping it so far.
Each county decides on the mandate for their own geographic region. And then three days later the rules will change. Again.

Hopefully there won't be a requirement to take in a homeless person for the priveledge of attending any said event in California.
I think some of the Top Eliminator Suits are still available. Maybe they could pass a helmet around for that and the homeless guys could also eat at the big team’s hospitality trailers and go to the starting line but they would still have to wear a mask. Also the California based teams could take them home and put them up in the spare bedroom. 😎

In the Pro ranks there are almost no California based teams. Even Salinas is not based in California so it's pretty hard to put them up in a spare bedroom. SoCal has done a tremendous job in getting homeless off the streets but quite a few don't want to leave where they are. There are many homeless shelters that have room but most won't go there unless the weather gets real bad.

From my view here in Illinois thru the boobtube it looks like there is still a lot of relocating to be done.I don't see a one with a mask on,and doubtful many have had the vaccine. So why make it to where a fan has to jump thru a bunch of hoops just to go to a drag race while others can just run amuck ?

Effective tomorrow, Wednesday 2/16, face masks for outdoor Mega events (5000+) in Los Angeles County will no longer be required. So, no face masks for Pomona.

No tests or vaccine proof either per the NHRA.

Have any of you homeless advocates on this forum ever happen on to a mom with her kids sleeping in a car on a cold morning in a parking lot? Take a minute to thank whomever you thank for the warm room you type your wisdom from. Maybe a good movie to watch tonight might be Nomadland.

Mark, I will tell you our experience with a homeless mother/daughter who have lived in a motorhome in front of VHS for the past two years. the mother seems nice and respectful and therefore the reason we have not (up until now) request their removal by the city authorities. Now it's because of the element that they bring in.

There are about a dozen other junkies that come around a hang out to do their drugs, trash our parking lot, steal water out of the spicket and have even broke out a front window that cost $500 to replace. It's the godawful stench and overflowing possessions that line the sidewalk. It's coming to work in the morning and seeing someone past-out on the ground. It's the drug dealing at night when my elderly parents are leaving to go home.

I have compassion for some peoples plight. But most of these homeless hanger-arounders are in their early 20's and do not seem to have any ambitions let alone cognigtive responsability. They seem perfectly happy to live with the bare minimum to get by.

It's a good thing that political discussions aren't a part of NM....boy, could I have a time with this one. Anyway, back to the topic - let's all be happy the restrictions have been lifted for the Winternationals. If you're going, enjoy !

yes, it's a long time coming from 3/20 when whole show was set up in gainesville. funny to think back then we were talking about individual covid cases per state.
will be interesting to see if F1 is still all masked up when they start in bahrain in march. maybe a handful of masks visible at daytona this week/weekend.

On the same subject, but a different race; does Arizona have any restrictions in place for the Phoenix race?
My wife and I are flying in on the 23rd.

Ted, there was a few weeks ago but I'd check the track website
Mike, I just checked their website. Everybody over 2 years of age must wear a mask while on the property.
And here I thought Arizona was a bit less restrictive than California.

Race track is on reservation land, therefore outside of the rest of Arizona.

Only place any restrictions is on the tribal land (which the track is on) but that is only if you go into the casino or the Chevron down the street. I was there for three days during the test and other than wearing a mask when I went into the office to pick up my vest & wristband I was never told to put a mask on when along the wall or in the staging lanes. I was in Jim Maroney's pit on Saturday morning when someone with PRO came by and warned about the possibility of tribal police going pit to pit making sure crews were masked but I never saw it.

I had forgotten about Wild Horse being on a reservation. Their house, their rules. No arguing from me. I just want to see, hear, smell, taste and feel some burning nitro.
