Thinking About Attending the Phoenix National Event (1 Viewer)

I'm thinking about attending the Phoenix event this year for the first time. Any tips or things I should be aware of? Seating recommendations? I plan to go all three days. I'm not worried about hotels or rental car. Thanks in advance for any insight.

Get there EARLY, unless you like sitting in a 2 mile line! Ever since the Casino completely changed the entrance into that track, it's an Abortion getting in there now! Pitside seats aren't bad, as long as you don't mind the sun in your face come 2 PM!

Yes, do it! Joe is spot on about the waiting in a line of cars - both in and out of the track. I like the pit side seats as well because it's cool to be able to look over the back of the stands and watch the cars tow up into the staging lanes.

How difficult is it to get to the pro pits if I sit in, what appears to be, the west side stands? Sure it's only February, but having the afternoon sun in my face for three straight days doesn't sound like fun. As for getting there early, since I'm a sportsman fan as well, especially comp, I'm sure I'll be getting to the track earlier than most fans, except for Sunday. With eliminations starting at 11am on Sunday, what time would you guys suggest I arrive? I was thinking 9am. Oh and how much is parking? Thanks.

Frank I always sit on the West side to avoid the sun, and it is a walk but nothing like some of the tracks I have been too....

East side is reserved seating; but, you'll get the sun in your eyes when the sun goes down

You'll have to go around the backside of the starting line and that will take you out toward the midway and pits, I don't think it's any further a walk than from the GA side at LVMS to the pits there.
General parking is $10. Food; however, is expensive (as always,) plan accordingly.
Sportsman are scheduled for 9:00am on Sunday, and gate time appears to be 8:00am.
You can find the event schedule at NHRA, and specific Wild Horse Pass info at their website.

I plan on going friday, I usually sit on the pit side for 1st. Round qualifying , then by the time 2nd round comes I head over to the west side. By then I've had enough sun and it's on the way to the parking lot.

I've been attending this race since 1985. I always sit on the pit side in the morning and early afternoon for the easiest pit access. Before the 2nd Pro round starts, I move to the other side of the track for two reasons, one to have better pictures with the sun at your back and to get out of the parking lot a little quicker. I don't think it's ever taken us longer than about 30 minutes to get out and we always seem to get stuck up by Bondurants school! The sun in the face can get to you after a while, but it's no where as bad as it was when the race was in October :) I try to sit about 2/3 of the way up the track for better pictures without staff photographers backs in you picture. Fridays we do General addmision, there's open seats on both sides and then Saturday there's more people, so we like having a reserved seat. We'll be there at least on Friday this year, we get there about 8:30-9:00.
