this is just cooler than beer. something she is comfortable doing at this point.
i think this is at MSG? or is she doing this every night recently?
last night i jammed out to the iconic 1981 live @ montreal forum concert. crazy to go back and watch the original after
watching so much of the recent tour.

All of them are clearly having a riot and she has settled in very nicely. A far cry from the 1st couple of shows, no nervousness, no click sticks to cue and the rhythm is tight and right.

Going to burn out more brain cells watching the latest stuff as it hatches to YT and I'm so happy for them and it makes me happy too.

Every night, she has been coming up with something to end the shows with the boys, and there is NO prior knowledge other than she gets the last downbeat. The selfie thing setup popped up seconds before on my preview monitor at FOH, when I saw Gump coming up behind her, then the next thing I know, she is snapping the photo. We broke up!! It was actually funny AF...

4 show video shoot in Toronto this week; it won't be available until after the run is done, but there are going to be a LOT of happy fans next year

watched MSG #2 in it's entirety last night. during that last note of working man, you can almost tell they have
a rehearsed act going on. ged and alex come together and turn heads towards anika. on this particular performance she
gave the boys a subtle hand gesture of hand across neck, or 'no' i'm not going to do the selfie, proceeded by last note.
i just keep thinking about all those morons at rolling stone magazine and similar other musical rags of the era,
that never gave RUSH the credit they deserved so many years ago.

I'm going to one of their two dates at Mohegan Sun - November 1st. I contemplated the Garden in Boston. But I've seen them play at both places, and Mohegan Sun is just better. Not really a bad seat there as it has around 10,000 seats and acoustics are great - it was just built to be a music venue, after all.

mystic lake casino in twin cities just built a large outdoor amphitheater only for music. friend just went to show there. raved about
the entire setup, including acoustics.

Oh, and for those who frequent /r/rush, I am sure you've seen the critics of Anika not playing like Neil. Well, no one can, he was one of a kind. I'll be honest, when I heard Rush was going to go on tour this year, I was not excited for two reasons (a) it would be without Neil and (b) ticket prices were crazy. But then I watched the YouTube videos of Anika playing with Geddy and Alex and I was sold. She does Neil justice, but with her own take. She just gels with Geddy and Alex - the smiles I saw on everyone's faces when they were interacting with each other made that crystal clear.

They are genuinely having a riot and getting paid has become a secondary thing for all four of them.
I don't know how many times I've watched them work and she nails a part or flat out pulls a stunt - the entire crowd is rooting for her because everyone knows the boots she's filled are deep, bottomless deep and wide.
Mr Peart is smiling from on high and perfectly fine with the situation, he would have approved it in person if the opportunity was there.
Nobody lives forever though he's made a mark that's likely to never be topped, Anika Nilles does justice to the role and with her own very comfortable, comical and artful twist the world is literally lucky to experience. I'm going through some troubled times and am praying for a good outcome and blessed to have seen them doing it decades ago in Kalamazoo and I'm pretty broke right now, once I get back on my feet again I'm hoping I can be able to cross paths with the great ones once again.

And, I realized a few hours after I posted about Anika, I forgot to mention Loren Gold on keyboards... I don't know much about him, but Alex and Geddy would not have brought him on board for this tour if he wasn't good.

Loren's pedigree is stout: Chicago, The Who, Kenny Loggins and several other upper-echelon groups. He's a great fit here, and his role was always to be "in the background" freeing up Geddy to focus on singing and bass playing without losing many of the signature sounds that are associated with the synth era of Rush. His moments are just as iconic as the Neil parts that Anika is nailing (the nightly Tom Sawyer cheer makes us all smile for our girl!), and he's a beautiful pianist when his solos come to the forefront.

Looking forward to Connecticut, as that venue is (at 10,000 seats) very intimate for this show; it should be a blast. "Home" in Philly this week for the first true two-in-a-row (CdMX was a whole different deal, as far as the set lists were concerned), so I am looking forward to this weekend and where this next couple of months heads as far as song selection.

I understand set lists are close to the vest, but if someone wanted to hear the complete 2112 as opposed to a couple sections, it is a pretty good bet that would be on night 2 of a 2 date tour stop?
