They're back...

i think you might have a cameo in this. right at beginning before the lights go down.
Yup; that's me in the gaming chair to Howard's left, making sure we are GTG for launch.

And we are back to 100% after our border crossing issue from México and tomorrow will be a great show in Ft. Worth!

If you're allowed to share, what is the real border issue that caused last night's show to be postponed?

Is it true there was also an issue getting into Mexico?
Moral of the story: Do the U.S. shows first, then head south.
The issue was getting OUT of México 🤫

i saw that border issue online. somebody commented, 'they should have just called bruce dickenson and had him
fly them out on the 'eddy' airliner' ....... just goes to show how those border crossings can be tricky, no matter who you are.

OIC....
👌

I didn't catch that until I replayed it a BUNCH of times & not real good at recognizing the back of someone's head. 🥴

Sorry Martin, I'm already half blind from the diabetes - the half dumb part just comes naturally I guess!

You're still a wizard, even Geddy said so...LOL!

If anyone was gonna be called, it would have Doug K. 😁 It was trucks, not personnel

a few questions martin....
- obviously vehicle standards and paperwork is not the same passing into mexico and it is coming back through.
i would guess the trucks were basically the same rolling out of mexicol as they were rolling in?
- do you sense any level of the band gelling even more now that they have a few shows behind them?
- and to follow in same manner, how about your crew, are you trying anything different than from the first 4 LA shows?
thanks!

Some logistics info I'm not at liberty to speak about, Mike, so the trucking thing (which is also a financial nightmare) is best spoken about in the near-never...

As far as the band geling, since rehearsals in T.O., there is a marked difference in how everyone is getting on, especially after L.A. and the pressure being off once those shows were successful. Soundcheck is a lot of fun, some goofy moments and the band really has a moment to stretch their creative legs (Alex is a BAD mofo, and does some things during the check that slowly makes its way into the live show).

As far as the crew, we are having a bit more difficulty, as we load in once a week and depending on the department, literally sit for a week. Automation, lasers and video are always tweaking on small things, and Howard and I are "massaging the tune up", but things like rigging and carps are kinda dead in the water until load-out. Lotta thoroughbreds out here that can't stretch and run like normal. We are 2 months in and have had 4 load-ins...
Last night, I took all the lighting crew out to Andretti Kart for some day-off shenanigans; the "old guy" (me) got a podium finish!

that's awesome, and nice podium! the andretti indoor kart tracks are fun. have been to the one in orlando.
and thank you for the insight on the goings on. feel a little privileged to have this inside info via the mater🍅.

Martin Thank you for giving us an insight of what goes on behind the scenes. The average ticket buyer just walks in, grabs a seat and hopes that they hear the song that they came to hear. Keep the stories coming because not everyone can be in your shoes to see and explain what everyone else doesn't have access to. Awesome Job!!!

2 shows postponed to 7/11 and 13.
Geddy dx'ed with bronchitis and laryngitis.

Between the border and this, I hope they don't decide to retire. The concerts have gotten really positive reviews, but recovery at age 73 isn't the same as at 37.

Spent a good part of the afternoon with Alex; his friend is down but not out. Part of the "maintenance team" is a physician, a physical therapist, a masseuse, a couple of trainers and a boatload of folks that are around to make sure the talent is comfortable and well taken care of. The Canadian residents fly home today for the days off, and Gedd is a serious trooper (I've had bronchitis; he's doing better than I would be...).
The meeting yesterday afternoon was a musician that wanted to try and do a show, and a flock of folks convincing him that would not be a good idea. The final decision was his, and he attempted to warm up the vocal chords, to no avail. It was only then that HE decided that it would be a disservice to the fans to not be out there at 100%.
Load-out went swiftly, and we will be back in Texas soon enough (the hotel bar LOVES us...). We ALL are really sorry for the inconvenience to the patrons; all of us REALLY wanted to do this show, as the audience here had been really awesome.
On a flight home at the moment for a few days with the wife and dog, then back again to head into what will be a bunch of great shows after Texas (Chicago, New York and Toronto). And note this- the band has been in steady rehearsals running full shows since last year; they have the stamina and the desire. This is just a bump in the right lane; they will pedal it and get it down through there like the champs they are...

Thanks. Do you get to interact with Loren Gold? He should have interesting stories from The Who and other bands he has performed with.

Love the drag racing analogy!
